So long story short, I was explaining Adventure Time to my mother and the relationship between Finn and his adopted family, regarding how they age faster than him. Mom told me that reminds her of this Robin Williams movie by the name of Jack. Now lemme just say that if you haven't seen Jack I highly recommend it. It had me almost crying. Especially the very last scene of his graduation. It's such a, well, Robin Williams film. And if you know his history/backstory at all, I recommend the movie even more.

So as an animation nerd and someone who loves analyzing film, if you have not gotten around to watching Perfect Blue you should do yourself the pleasure and watch this physiological thriller.

Perfect Blue is incredible! Recommended it in a Halloween video I did a while back! Phenomenal.

I’ll recommend a classic anime movie: Millennium Actress. It’s one of the best animated movies I’ve seen in terms of cinematography, and uses it to tell an engrossing story about an actress and her relationships, both with her love and her career, and how they intertwine over time and across movies.

Im so glad you recommended Manhunt! Its the most 80s movie i've ever seen. My friends put it on on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. No one outside of that group has even heard of it.

I'm a fan of classic films especially the horrors and scifi from when the screen was silver up through the seventies. My favorite actor of these films is Vincent Price, a man who eats up every scene he's in. I recommend from among the films he starred in Last Man on Earth and the Pit and the Pendulum.

Speaking my language, friend! Whoever cast Vincent Price to spend the majority of a movie hanging around by himself was a genius.

There are so many great films. 1. If you haven't seen them you absolutely must see the two Spider-verse films. These are contenders for both the best animated and best superhero films I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. 2. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure series - but go into it just to appreciate the clever crafting of it and the silliness and hopefulness of it (I loved the way the handled the silliness of time travel). 3. Spirited Away -- a truly great anime. 4. The Thief and The Cobbler -- an odd truly unique animated film. 5. Wolfwalkers -- a great animated feature Now if you would do the same thing with series :)

I will forever recommend Reign of Fire to those who haven’t seen it. Early career Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey fighting off the dragon apocalypse is just cinematic candy

The Whale was an amazing movie. Some of the best work in the modern day, and it was set in one house.

One that I recently watched for the first time was Sicario. With the Dune movies I've become a big fan of St. Denis and realized Sicario was available on streaming and I'd heard good things. Oh boy what a treat that was. The slow creep of dread as the movie continues through to the final act had me thoroughly enthralled. I also went back on some classic horror films with Psycho & Rosemary's Baby. Both definitely reek of the 60s but they're still worth a watch in the year of our lord, 2024

I watched Manhunter when I saw James on Dead Meat was covering it. I was so glad I watched it! I also finally finished the Hannibal series shortly after and, I have to say, Manhunter is my favorite version of the Red Dragon story on film for me.

Love your channel and your perspective and passion for film. That said, the whiplash I experienced when you recommend Blue Velvet as a good introduction to David Lynch truly caught me off guard. But then I thought about all of Lynch's films and I have to agree that yeah, Blue Velvet is probably the best place to start after all. Anyway, if you're looking for more of those older technicolor feasts, I recommend The Umbrellas of Cherbourg from 1964. I also recommend Charade from 1963. Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn are incredible, and the Paris setting is just gorgeous.

I don't know if you've already watched this, but "The man from earth" is one of my absolute favourite movies. It doesn't have a lot of production value, but it more than makes up for it through acting, dialogue, premise, proggression and resolution. And it's on youtube! Yes, the full movie!

I'm sometimes a fan of much older movies that don't always get modern attention. That don't always age well even if they aren't vilified (like Gone With the Wind) due to the changes of views and tolerances. I would love to recommend nearly any Nelson Eddy film. But particularly Maytime. Featuring John Barrymore. Drew's grandad
