I love Dudley Moore in this clip! He's playing his part so very well and is actually quite cute in his awkwardness... Love the whole movie but this is one of the very best scenes!
I remember seeing this scene as a 8 year old back in 1982 on the ABC Sunday night movie I was trying soo hard not to laugh because it would have woken my sleeping mom up and if she saw me watching this she would have had a conniption fit !
I saw this as a kid when we were flying back to the states from living overseas for a year. I remember my mama laughing so hard during this scene. She was in a car accident not too long after we were back home and she lost her sight after hitting her head during the accident. I bet it was so hard for her to not be able to see movies anymore and driving etc. She said the thing she missed the most was reading her books. Glad we were able to get her talking books though. She loved reading. I am losing my sight in my right eye but I listen to books on Audible so I'm grateful to have that available.
Used to watch this movie with my older sister when I was like 8. Remembered liking it for some reason and brought it up when I was with the rest of my family for mothers day. We watched it.... holy shit I must've been a weird kid. This is one of the parts that came back to me when watching it.
I used to watch this movie as a kid too, I remember this scene very well, it was hysterical even as a little kid, laughing with the whole family, I don't think I was embarrased or thought it was weird or didn't understand (maybe not totally), it was just so funny poor guy (specially with that music), such great acting from Dudley Moore.
0:11 Stanley's got an LP copy of *The Best Of Traffic* (the back cover is visible) lying on top of the stereo. Maybe he should have put on a little 'Shanghai Noodle Factory" or "Coloured Rain" instead!
This is such a brilliant comedic showcase for Dudley Moore. The scene builds from one absurd thing to another, layering one gag on top of the other with Dudley as the wannabe swinger who thinks he's finally made it when the whole thing comes crashing down. This movie was probably the first time I had seen Dudley Moore, though immediately afterwards he had the super hit 10 with Bo Derek. But time and again I come back to this scene where he just lets it all hang out!
Here's a thought..Dudley Moore is Top Gear's..(Grand Tour) Richard Hammond's father and this is how Richard tried to impress his future wife Amanda....and they lived happily ever after ;-)..Anyhoo, underated movie from the 70's. Cheers Felipe. xXx
IM A BROADCASTER AND AN ACTOR.(there's many incredibly STRANGE things about this man and his life).first....the MOVIE love sick was HORRIBLE.he must have been INSANE when he agreed to do it.OR he hated himself and that justified him doing it.OR he had physical abuse charges pending on him FROM HIS 4 X WIVES.so he did a plea bargain. To get out of those marriages HE thus was FORCED To do love sick.(secondly.Arthur the movie was BRUTALLY LAME at best-a bad movie overall.MEDIOCRE at best acting.HORRIBLE cliche script and TERRIBLE music by the AWFUL SONG VOCALIST Chris cross.(and I saw a documentary on him ADMITTING to the interviewer HOW HE WAS GOING TO PERISH/DIE.(none of it made sense).SO MY POINT HERE IS...........YES A TALENTED MAN..........but yet.......A FREAKY FREAKY FREAKY personal and business life........your replies are welcomed.
