Duets - The Big Lebowski/The Long Goodbye 

"The Long Goodbye" is the next novel after "The Big Sleep." The beginning of "The Long Goodbye" Marlowe shows all of the signs of a man going through a breakup. Which means Becall's character left him high and dry between the two novels, and he's trying to get over her throughout the film. You gotta love "The Third Man" reference at the end of the movie with Marlowe being the one walking away. The infamous "Stripping Scene" is obviously Altman's critique of stripping away the archetypes of the previous generation.
