In the journal “Questions of Nationalism” (whose editor-in-chief was the late Konstantin Krylov, a leading ideologist of Russian nationalism and a rather original thinker), a cross-cutting theme (even with a separate regular section) was criticism of the Eurasians and Dugin. Individual issues (for example, 11/2012) were entirely devoted to this controversy. UPD Most of the article is some kind of feverish nonsense, you can take sentence by sentence and refute it.

I'd like to know where the word "occultism" actually comes from; is it the same as 'esoterism' - which is more a type of knowledge or understanding than a concrete set of practices? Would be interesting to trace the word historically. I relate it more to magic and stufff, which is a practice, and from a Christian perspective could be something demonic, and not a way of understanding. which is what I think esoterism means.
@thesquee1838
@thesquee1838 3 месяца назад
The term “esotericism” derives from the Greek root “eso-,” which means inner. Plato, in his dialogue Alcibiades, uses the expression “ta ēso,” meaning “the inner things,” and, in his dialogue Theaetetus, he uses the expression “ta ēxo,” meaning “the outer things.” The Greek adjective “esoterikōs” (esoteric) was coined by the rhetorician and satirist Lucian of Samosata (second century C.E.) in his book The Auction of Lives (paragraph 26). The term “esoteric” first appeared in English in Thomas Stanley’s History of Philosophy, which was published in 1701. Thomas Stanley used the term “esoteric” in order to describe the mystery-school of Pythagoras, since the Pythagoreans were divided into the exoteric circle (under training) and the esoteric circle (admitted into the “inner” circle). The corresponding noun “esotericism” was coined by the French philosopher and historian Jacques Matter in his book Histoire Critique du Gnosticisme (1828), and it was popularized by the nineteenth-century French occult author and ceremonial magician Eliphas Lévi (born Alphonse Louis Constant).

a western liberal like you inevitably distorts the perspectives of Dugin. Im a left wing secular conservative who loves the idea of Eurasianism and the philosophies of Dugin, im far from a backward American christian conservative which probably makes no sense to you. The reason their where so many mistakes and so much famine after the revolutions in China and USSR was because the liberals in charge did massive experiments. Conservative is a mind set, of caution and respect for what is confirmed and proven, the liberal mind set allows for trying the new, experimenting, a balanced approach between the two is needed but overall conservatives need to dominate as is the case in Communist china, and in Putins government. Who cares what the actual religion is, killing all the birds to avoid them eating grains is a dangerous experiment, and the result was plague by locusts. Eurasianism allows Russia and China to make allies with Arabs, Africans, Asians and South Americans as equals without trying to impose their own culture on the rest of the global south. This is not an opposition to modernity, Russia and China are both more technologically Advanced than America is, just visit either nation and see for yourself, and each country continues to modernize rapidly. Further more, It doesn't matter what Dugins religious beliefs are, this ideas stand on their own, and they are beneficial in defeating Western Unipolar hegemony by uniting a diverse world to stand up and resist the western effort to force their will upon the global south. Dugin frees the left, frees the right, he frees nations to try their own models and to evolve on their own as opposed to being lead by the nose by the west. Your simple understanding of Ukraine was is also disgusting because it ignores the genocide Ukraines banderite state was committing against the Ethnic Russians, and you also ignore that Crimea and Donbas where historically parts of Russia. You ignore Poroshenko stating how we would bomb the people of Donbas into submission, personally as a non Russias , I was waiting for Russia to finally stop the Ukrainians from continuing their genocide, and also to stop the NATO expansion. When we see America giving ammunition to Israel while we watch them commit genocide, we understand the true nature of Western liberal empire. Liberalism has value but it can also be used as a tool to separate a people from their culture, to make them estranged from all roots and this makes it easy for a revolution from top down, the reform a culture. A top down revolution obviously means from those who already have a great deal of power, in americas case it will be the corporations which use ID politics, gender politics, to create distractions and moral ambiguities. As industry is automated by robots and AI, the working class will mainly become unnecessary, and corporate power and control will increase greatly, those technologies need to be controlled , and reigned in, and they needs a conservative culture which sets limits .

Dugins writings are a perfect chronology for his shift in ideology. Probably the main driver of his views being so common among young partisans is that he reflects our ideological journeys, like the 15-y/o changing their political views radically meme. He went trough the turbulent changes in Russian 90s to the 2010s, in where he saw a dying empire become a stable state, soon to a global power house. His idealism became a semi-materialist geopolitik, he talks of the Russian national experience from hopes to deeds, and it made him a man who now is more grasped of reality than any other thinker who lives among ideologies. He reached the Dasein.

I grew up in a Russian family and in my experience, Russians are indeed very predisposed to the occult, although maybe not so much in its philosophical variations, but definitely with rituals. Basically, Russians are infamously superstitious, and a lot of the solutions for these superstitions are occult-ish rituals. Also, Russians celebrate Maslenitsa which is a literal pagan holiday left over from before christianization lol. Maslenitsa celebrations include the making of special dolls and burning them on sacrificial bonfires. I think a lot of this occult stuff was fuelled by the atheist Soviet Union… as mentioned in the article. The revival of Orthodox Christianity in Russia is still relatively new, but allegedly gaining popularity. However, Orthodox Christianity itself is very focused on rituals and making things look nice, so it could be seen as inherently appealing for a pagan mindset / lifestyle….

A lot of Dugin's critics seem to want to contain him within a certain neat & easily understandable box and then poke him from a safe distance. That is both an easy and a hard thing to do since he dabbled in so many things that you can cherry pick a lot of them to support a lot of predetermined conclusions (especially if you prioritize his contacts over his writings or commentary). Kind of a mess, but then so was the period when he was formed in. Though I think the key term in that article is not 'occultist', but 'dangerous' as it seems to prioritize scaring people away with a claim of him being occultist by association. Scare away from what? From studying him rather than properly informing yourself about him. It also relies more on ignorance regarding certain topics and general suspicion to make its, at times exaggerated, claims. One thing Dugin would probably (definitely?) agree is that the Western & Russian conservatism differ in many ways. There will always be a lot of disagreements as the Western thought is more specialized, narrowly defined, often reductionist, impatient and dismissive of anything that comes from Russia (or overly hopeful about it, especially when it starts talkig about a mysterious Russian soul). That other extreme, a rather naive one, is to present Russia as some sort of savior of all Western conservatives, which is little more than a projection of a 'shining city on the hill' that just doesn't fit. Neither of those extremes are particularly productive if you want to learn.

The one thing this author apparently doesn't know about Evgenii Golovin is that he was a proud mischling. Not that Jews can't be Nazis, but highlighting the name "The Black Order of the SS" is misleading. It completely disregards the fact that this was occurring in the early 1980s in the Soviet Union under Brezhnev. The evocation of esoteric Nazism was about as heretical as it got back then, and the heresy aspect was the main point. I haven't finished the video, but Dugin's episode with the ethno-nationalist political organiztion Pamyat' ("Memory") in the late 1980s perfectly illustrates my point. He was kicked out of Pamyat', along with Geidar Dzhemal' (another founder of the Yuzhinskii Circle in the mid-to-late 1960s) for being (to paraphrase) "a subversive Freemason k*ke." The reason for this was because Dugin has always rejected racism of all forms, to include anti-semitism. Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of Dugin's political career knows this. But it is always glossed over if not outright obfuscated, because his very sincere anti-liberalism and anti-westernism isn't villainous enough for the common onlooker.

Heidegger committed the crime of ignoring the significance of culture passing down distilled principles to future generations, except the principle that there are no principles, only death. Which is contradictory, to assert a principle of no principles, completely discounting the bootstrapping process which most empowers mankind’s fight against general entropy, and increases his ability to exist in the first place, expressed as technological development increasing the potential population density per square mile. If we were all rabbits, we would not build economies of scale with embedded scientific discoveries,, so the difference between men and animal is the crucial difference, to which “universals” ultimately rest upon. Culture is what enables human existence to not be a simple zero-sum game like the mode of mere animals, we don’t have to reinvent the wheel each generation, with the exception of the general cleanup associated with the mess civilization “wrecking-ball” Heidegger created.

Yes, the idea of moral codes as fit only for “suckers”, lies at the core of Empire. It’s an echo of nominalism, that universal rules are lies for enslaving the ruled, the.”suckers”. But true freedom’s purpose is to unfold human potential on which all Empires leach upon in a secondary, derivative sense. The wealth they concentrate largely originated firstly in the discoveries of universal principles by developed man, only from un-enslaved man, for only he, the relatively un-manipulated mind, is able to see things clearly enough to make first rate scientific discoveries in the first place. Uranium was just another rock until scientific minds unlocked its secrets. And usually in scientific revolution, the establishment fights the less-brainwashed mavericks responsible for such discoveries at every turn, as in politics. So, the sucker is he who considers wealth power primary, rather than merely a shadow derivative of mankind’s potential to see, when the individual is not buried under serfdom and tyranny of oligarchs running rabidly around and ruining the economic and social framework, on which producing geniuses depends. Other words, these upper strata “justice of the strongest” people have always been a bunch of self-absorbed nominalist, narcissist assholes, that are not primary power generators as they imagine themselves, only parasites who exploit the fruit already brought into being by previous genius. Thus they kill the very conditions and culture from which discovery unfolds, undermining themselves and their empire in the process. They kill the goose that lays the golden egg, because educating drones to serve the Empire according to its worldview, is not the same thing as educating geniuses for reaching the heights of vision. So that is empire’s Achilles’ heel, it rejects the creative power of mind on which progress itself rests, because to subvert man is to subvert it. It says universals take a back seat to will and force and the Empire’s treasure chest, completely ignoring the fact that it was is the power of universals that keep the war chest filled in the first place, by enabling mankind to harness the power of nature herself.

Yep, well said. Since true morality is effectively operationalizing reality into human affairs and the human condition, the inversion of morality is exactly doubling down on the lie. This being the case, the position is fundamentally powerless in and of itself, it can only be parasitic. Many of us have personal experience of this with narcissistic "friends" or family. Speaking for myself, I really only became aware of the narcissist personality type as a thing in the last few, let's 10 years, even though. Approximately in the same time frame the word and the concept of "gaslighting" came into common knowledge. Scott Mandelker who has commented extensively on spiritual teachers and writings, and who himself is a professionally trained counsellor, and a meditator, points out how narcissist personality is fundamentally weak and damaged, despite their bravado. Some years ago there was the film The Corporation, which asked, if corporations had a personalilty type, which one would it be? Of course it sociopathic or psychopathic. And we see exactly that same personality type in Victoria Nuland and Freeland and Biden and these other politicos, the human face of evil. Whether or not they are card-carrying, practicing Satanists, which some of them no doubt are, Hillary comes to mind, in any case that's where their heart is.

What got my attention with regard to Dugin was that he asserted spiritual values that align with my viewpoint. I have been a student of esotericism and a practioner of occult meditation for over 25 years. He struck a chord because what he stands for is a healthy nationalism. I have predominantly studied Helena Blavatsky, Alice Bailey and Helena Roerich's writings. These writings cannot be engaged with through intellectualism, they require intuition in order to grasp their meaning. The occult mediation produces the capacity for intuition. Within the framework of those teachings, a nation is a sacred entity with a purpose and a set of goals that are part of the jigsaw of humanity. Russia is the gateway between east and west or the orient and the occident. The soul of Russia is a manifestation of Cerimonal Order or Synthesis, an attrribute of divinity. It's personality is one of Devotion and Idealism. The revamping of Russia's society and the advances in technology it has achieved come from its soul. In 2005 I was informed that the forces of materiality (The Lords of Materiality) were attempting to establish a third point in their axis of power, within the nation of Ukraine. It was actively focused upon in order that it would fail and it certainly looks like it will. The other two points are in Tel Aviv and Washington (particularly the Pentagon and the State Department). The represntatives of the LOM are blinded and are failing. Their powerbase has been undermined by their wrong thinking and will soon collapse. Thanks for the video and apologies for such a long comment.

I haven’t read Dugin yet, and I’m not a scholar, but from growing up in a Russian family, I can confirm that Russians tend to be quite fascinated with “occult” things, which would be perceived as idolatry and apostasy by many western protestants. It’s not bad to learn about perspectives that occult and pagan ideas can offer (out of curiosity) but I’d say that the average Russian should to spend less time learning about that and more time learning about what idolatry means, because … maaan, I don’t think the average Russian has any adequate conception of idolatry (i.e. they have the strawman understanding of idolatry) or how it opposes creationist arguments. Also, after learning about Islam, I’ve been thinking that this fascination with the occult is inherently built into Christianity… not that it doesn’t exist in some Islamic traditions either, though 😅 Like, it’s no wonder that Dugin is digging for the meaning of the logos in occult / pagan traditions when it’s literally the founding principle of Christianity… That said, any protestants who try to reject the existence of this pagan legacy in Christianity are also being hypocritical…

If I am not mistaken, Alexander Solzjenitsyn had great contempt for this Yuri Manleev up to the point of labeling him as a complete non-entity as a writer, in any case a rather violent dislike he voiced at him, which was not habitual in Solz. This sole fact has always conferred suspicion on me concerning Dugin, who seemed in this to be without the virtue of prudence, also once more, and later, exemplified by his not having been able to effectively shield his daughter in a very dangerous environment. She was a child of puré mimesis when she was blown up. He is still alive though. and happened to take the right car and gives interviews from grottos and caves a chotky in his hands.? Fishy all of that together.

Would love a more realistic take wigh a more modern version of national divorce because depending who you talk to its either 2/3rd vote of the states to secede, hyper federalization of the states thereby ending the influence and interference in the states by either federal or other state governments or more extreme translations say its a process that leads to civil conflict

couldn't stop watching your entire video.... mainly because I am one of those tradition minded people the author is aiming at! "Putin is bad because he is associated with Dugin who is associated with the Devil! (btw he is also an Old Believer convert and they are associates of Satan!!)" The logical sleights of hand you point out were serious. The author should have lead off with the Old Believer conversion stuff. It is significant and must be the lens thru which we view any of Dugins earlier writings and actions. 'Genocide of Ukrainians'??!! I think the author is referring to Dugin's emotional response to the Odessa massacre in 2014....when he said 'kill kill kill' I think Dugin meant the Ukrainian hooligans who burnt up the people in the trade union office. Maybe I am wrong and Lamont has something else in mind?

I think the author has some confusion regarding occultism, paganism, esotericism and politics. As a pagan and occultist, I am uninterested in politics and tired of the christian attitude that anything non-christian is satanic. Satan is a christian idea not a pagan or occultist one. Rather, what people like me are interested in is the descent of humanity into materialism - represented by transhumanism, the current system of capitalism espoused by the globalists. We believe in natural law and we see nature and its personification through the gods as key. We see this materialsim as against nature and against spirituality and we see the extinguishing of human spirituality as the extinction of humanity. If there is evil as envisage by christians - it is this materialistic, transhuman future denying our true godlike nature. He talks of the left-hand path - the left hand path is actually the left side of the tree of life and synonymous with the divine female. It has nothing to do with christian ideas of evil and satanism. It has everything to do with traditional human spirituality and veneration of the divine female - neatly circumcised from the christian faith en route to its materialistic, transhuman future. I can see that Dugin seems to have similar views but I feel the author of this article is using words that have a very different meaning to him than to people like us based on a completely distorted view of occultism etc.

Whats the Canadian perspective on Dugin, besides being cancelled. Both are multicultural, both part of a sense of continental dominance, both trying to preserve ethnos, what Canada considers founding peoples. A 200 year old country probably still founding itself, not that Russia is any older. Dugin offers political and philosophical depth, and we have who? Jordon Peterson? My room is clean already. Thanks for the research. Still trying to grasp what Dugin means for Canadians and North Americans going foreward.

Interesting here on Canada's west coast how open people are talking about their non-Christian values. I was at the barber, who is a gay woman, and listened to an open conversation on her pro satanic views. This is becoming more common.

From the start, the first article is carp. There had been a savage and brutal invasion since the so-called the Crusaders invasion of the West to the Arab land and recently to Syria. There have not been any so-called moral grounds to the West historically since the rise of capitalism. They don't have the right, whatsoever, to call the so-called military operation to Ukraine as an invasion, period. We in the east are not and will not wait for the West to teach us about morality or Ethics, you can not teach the very thing you are lacking.

Two things: 1) Nationality as a justification for action is not valid under traditionalist worldview, as it is viewed as temporary phenomenon, thus contradicting to the idea of tradition which is deemed to be eternal or timeless 2) If nationality (or lack thereof) is viewed as a sufficient justification for action, then I claim that the Ukrainian nationality was established and legitimized immediately after the first Russian soldier had crossed the border with weapon

Thank you for digging into these topics. I am reading many books on philosophy. I can see Dugin interested in Heideggers idea to found a new philosophy. A noble but difficult cause. Schopenhauer used a purely materialistic view which is a dead end. Useful but not all encompassing. Although Rudolf Steiner not taken seriously as a philosopher as he integrates spirituality I feel this is necessary as humans are spiritual at least many are. Steiner has 6000 lectures so it’s very much a journey to learn his ideas. Also he was a polymath. Also he had concept of group souls which universalists do not like. Scientific experiments have now verified that human thinking approach is not universal. Westerners are more individualistic than Asians. Of course universalists will even say men and women are the same lol
