A message to Katherine. If I read correctly in your reply I think I have it right now. I just don't don't do this enough to remember how it all goes every time. Thank You
I wish they labeled some of the parts better. Especially the part where you connect the usb stuff into the motherboard! I always have to look up for sequences for those small pins lol
The only reason the MB would need the extra cable plugged into the upper top left (most MB's) is for extreme overclocking. I haven't ran into a board that wouldn't post without the extra cable plugged in yet. I run an Asus prime x570 pro and don't use extra cable.
You don't need all the cables in the psu, that's why it's modular, so you only have the cables connected you actually need (1x 24pin mobo, 1x 4/8/4+8 CPU, 1x Sata if you run 1 SSD or HDD (maybe 2 if you run 2) and 1x 12VHPWR or 6/8/6+6/6+8/8+8 PCI-E for the GPU). It doesn't hurt to look in the manual 😉 The 12VHPWR cable is for newer GPUs (RTX 40 series and newer, only Nvidia so far.)
The reason youve got 2x8 pin cpu cables is sometimes motherboards need more than 1 8 pin but daisy chaining in general is a bad idea and I doubt the cpu youre using requires more than one 8 pin
