You should check out his hespori speedrun in Shattered leagues. It involved multiple people dropping and picking up pets so that Kirby's thrall could get favourable PID over Hespori. Some of the most insane tech.
not much sexier in the game then seeing a 75 BGS on duke it definitely feels like a pretty secure WR, because not a lot of people are ever going to even attempt this on task
Yea, unless they remove the pre-kill mechanic by putting a delay on the timer when you first enter the room I can't see anyone beating it. Even then it wouldn't be easy.
so if theres two hitsplats when It dies the death animation is faster? I've read about something like this when looking into inferno speed runs.@@0x7000
Overkill happens often with various weapons, and you save time on the death animation. The thrall stuff he’s talking about is the same thing but with a more complicated explanation on the pid.
Overkill is like, if a boss reaches 0 hp but there's still an attack that hasn't been processed, like a thrall hit, the boss starts its death animation 1 tick sooner. The tricky thing a thrall has to attack after you for it to count towards overkill, but the boss reaches 0 hp the tick after I hit it if I use melee. Normally the thrall won't attack if it sees the boss has 0 hp, but the pid loop thing I explain gives the thrall pid so it can attack on the tick the boss reaches 0 hp, since the thrall goes first during that tick so the boss hasn't had a chance to update its hp to 0 yet.
The thrall is used to give me overkill, speeding up the death animation by 1 tick when there's extra damage after the boss reaches 0 hp. This only works if the thrall attacks after me, but if I finish the boss off with melee, the boss has 0 hp on the next tick and the thrall won't attack. But if the thrall has pid over the boss, the thrall will attack on that tick before the boss updates its hp to 0, and now I get overkill from the thrall attacking the boss and it speeds up the death animation by a tick.
PID is a random number assigned to each player and monster in game to add priorities to certain events. Since the game only loops every 0.6 seconds (ticks or cycles), it is quite common for certain events to happen at the exact same tick. Therefor the player or entity with the highest PID is handled in order to lowest. It became very crucial to Duel Arena staking back in the day since the player with the highest PID would secure victory if players were to K.O. each other on the exact same tick. Hope that helps
