Holy crap, this song is so cool. Sounds like it was pulled from the guts of the mid nineties and could be played as a soundtrack to the recap of my teenage years on film.
I love her voice and the use of echo and reverb, yes it conjurs Mazzy's Fade Into You which is probably what I love about it, but also there is some depth here in the crescendo and breaks that grabs the heartstrings..
I came here never hearing this song before! But it was on a game I was playing on the PC...the game is called "Tell me why"! The game is awesome like this song is.
sorta dream pop-y and retro? understatement of the year. For the record, I actually like it a lot better than Fade into you, even having lived through the '90s when everything sounded like this.
While the chord progression is basically the same as "Fade", the Dum Dums summon a COMPLETELY different (basically opposite) aesthetic. "Fade" is this warm bittersweet love song while this is an utterly bleak, soul-rending meditation on sorrow and despair. I love both bands equally, but "Coming Down" is honestly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I'm convinced Dee Dee's voice was created for the sole purpose of serving this divine song.
