This is a heavily modified build of the 30" Dumas kit. A lot of the wood was replaced with light contest balsa. As well, I made the wings removable via tubes and sacrificial balsa spars. In addition, the wings also had a friction fit into the fuselage. The wings bent and came off too easily so I glued the fuselage joints but the wing is still removable via the spars.
Wingspan: 30" (76.2cm)
Weight: 104g (without rubber)

Very nice build and fantastic flight! Rubber powered flight is much more difficult than meets the eye! I hope it can still go on flying with the fixed wing. Thx for sharing!

Slick! My old Comet Wildcat flew right off the board and my little Guillow's Hellcat flew great! Those cats are awesome and yours looks wonderful. -Dan

I can stipulate you are an accomplished modeler that uses advanced techniques and materials to produce exceptional airplanes, but when do you do it? Do you have some kind of basement production-line? And where do you live that the wind doesn't blow at gale force continuously? All tongue-in-cheek humor aside, It's a beautiful build. I've experimented with chalking tissue, but have not produced anything I would commit to a model. Thanks for taking it outside!

Thanks! Wind is a real problem here in Ottawa, Canada. It is not very often that my availability and low winds line up for some outdoor flying!

Looks really good, I like it! I always thought that the Dumas kits had better balsa than the Guillows. Is the tight circle intentionally?

Yes, the tight circle is intentional. It was originally trimmed to fly inside a gym.

Did you print the tissue -- this model is beyond beautiful -- Steve

Thanks! The model is painted and chalked. It has brown Japanese tissue on the upper surfaces. I gave it a 3 very light coats of acrylic paint. Then I brushed it with matching colours of ground artist's chalk. Then I added panel lines and weathering with chalk pencils.
