Yes, those are "Cobra" brakes, same as the ones I have on my 87. When you said you were taking off the strut ...... oh no! 😮 Glad you are still here Randy! As I mentioned before, I unbolted the A arm from the car keeping the strut attached, and dropped the spring that way. It took some time, but it was pretty safe.

You need the maximum motorsports spring installation tool. Makes front springs on a fox a piece of cake. Real simple tool that allows you to slide the spring in at the bottom of the perch. It's only like $25 from LMR. Well worth the money! No need for a spring compressor. It's designed to install lowering springs.

@@dalebartells1962 For sure makes easy work for front lowering springs... foxbodies are no fun on the front springs... SN95 cars the geometry is totally diffrent... you can drop lowering springs right in the front of them no special tools needed.

I installed a set of Ford Racing "B" springs on my 84 Capri RS, replacing some old no name lowering springs that I had put in in 1988. Looked great, rode like a one ton truck. The book has you remove the control arm bolts and remove and replace the spring from there. Conventional spring compressors do not work, as the springs are too small a diameter. There is a special Ford tool (of course) that is a spring compressor that latches into the body through the upper spring mount. I, of course didn't have it. So, after attempting the passenger side almost exactly like you, I finally took the control arm bolts out (190 ft lbs!!) and completed the passenger side after about 7 to 8 hours of work. I did the drivers side the next morning, using the control arm bolts and a jack to push the control arm up and wrestle the bolts back in. I had the drivers' side and the back springs done by noon or 1pm. Definitely needed a front end alignment, and it could be put in spec, which was not possible with the old springs. Enjoy!

You are killing me Randy! 😁 lol I was teaching my Son how to remove the front Springs from a Ford one time back in the 90's, and I did everything by the Book using Spring Compressors etc and all went text book perfect. I said to him; "Son, now THAT is how you remove Springs!" 😊 Then I went to the other side, and as the Sun was setting low, I forewent the Spring Compressers and did it your way. Well that SOB Spring shot straight up the Pry Bar and hit me smack in the Shin, then up and square in the forehead, knocking me on my ass, and the Spring shot high into the air and over the neighbour's fence narrowly missing his Kids who were watching me through the fence! 😳 My Son looked down at me laying on the ground and said; "Let me Guess Dad, THAT was how you DON'T remove a Spring!" 🤪 Smart Ass!! 🙄

You will have axle wrap....or wheel hop without the quad shocks. Godspeed makes a nice front and rear coil over conversion for around $650 for the set. That would have been the way to go. Then all four corners would be fully adjustable with camber caster plates included

Removes all doubt and you can adjust as your driving on it ! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! Hope all your family's has a blessed holiday !

You are already done, but just for future reference. They make a spring compressor that you can use on the 'inside' of the coil springs, sometimes you can use a 'standard' compressor inside the spring as well (just depends on who made it/how it was made), basically everything needs to be able to pass through the spring or through the hole on the bottom of the spring pocket. For the rear's, on a Fox mustang the 'easy button' way is to just disconnect the rear lower control arm at the rear end, and jack it back on with the spring there. A spring compressor can also work.

I got a set of SVE lowering springs and the front springs are a pain. I had to loosen the bolts to the control arms and dropped them far enough to slide the spring on over the perch without using a spring compressor. You are doing it right by starting at the top first. Drop the control arms down lower since you’re really close at the bottom.

I went the route of removing my quad shocks after I switched to aftermarket upper and lower rear control arms. The car always felt like it was loose when going over bumps or uneven pavement. I ended up reinstalling replacement quad shocks and immediately noticed the improvement. The quad shock is the linkage that ties the suspension to the body (similar to the front). The rear sway bar only ties the two control arms together but doesn't connect to the body except for where the quad shocks connect. My vote obviously is to replace them and keep them installed.
