It's not said how fast the cop was going, but he was riding the left lane and should have pulled over to the right, let the guy pass on on the left and then pulled him over if he were speeding.

If someone in the left lane is slower than the limit and I go to the right lane pass them slowly, there is no rule broken, unless there is a rule against driving in a lane at the speed limit.

Certain questions How fast was the cop going? Is it not illegal in 98% of all states to drive in the left lane and not allow traffic - faster to pass or move to the right lane? I saw turn signals used. Was the stop because turn signals were not used? If so, than a false stop. Why was the cop nit moving into the right lane? Was an emergency in affect that we do not know? Knew could fight in a court of law based upon these questions.

As long as the cop is going BELOW the speed limit, I have no problem passing them either on the right or left. Pass them all the time, no tickets......most I have passed are usually going 5 or 10 mph below the speed limit. Other folks will check up and not pass them, afraid they will get cited and back up a ton of traffic behind them and the cop. grrrrrr...

There is " strategic driving " and there is " tactical driving " if you learn the difference, you will never get ticketed . Tactical driving is for fools .

Thing thing about overtaking, in australia anyway, is that when you overtake someone no matter how fast or slow they are, your overtaking speed must not exceed the speed limit, if the car is going say 10km under the limit then when you overtake them your speed can only go to the speed limit aka 10km faster than the car just mentioned, if you go over you are then speeding regardless of the reason and you will get pulled over. The same can be said if the car is going 5km under the limit, realistically you shouldn't need to overtake that car but should you be so impatient, you can go a maximum of 5km faster til you hit the speed limit and chances are the person you are overtaking will now probably match your speed and you then make the choice, drop back and keep on driving behind them or go over the limit and be potentially be fined for speeding like an idiot.

Stupid abuse of power by the cop. The guy was driving like most of us drive. The car did not look like a cop car so he did what I do every day. Pass on the right. Cop has an ego problem and hides behind a tin badge.

Cop was wrong in this situation. No speed was given only that he passed a cop. Looks like the cop was going too slow.

Cop was in the right. Other driver was not driving for conditions. If flow of traffic is slower, you need to slow down to math traffic flow.
