Dump Trucks #12 features various dump trucks hauling to and from construction sites in Vernon, British Columbia.
The first stage of the video shows a variety of truck traffic entering and leaving the city on Highway 97N.
Second part of the video features dump trucks and excavation equipment preload consolidating a proposed construction site at the north end of the city. Preload is surcharging the ground with a uniformly distributed surface prior to the construction of the structure. Consolidating is forcing water from the fine-grained soil underneath.
Third part of the video features dump trucks working on a damp summer day, a Wirtgen W1200F Quad Track cold asphalt milling machine loads tandem axle dump trucks with milled granulation. The roadway was pavemed in the early 1980s. Reclaiming reduces construction costs. Underground utilities are being updated.
Please feel free to comment on the video.
Thanks for watching!

Hi Joep! Glad you enjoyed the video. I enjoyed filming and editing the footage. I did notice the "02" on the 379. Didn't realize (until then) that the company has two Petes. Orange and white looks great. I'll keep my eyes open for the 389. Thanks for watching! Much appreciated!

There's more construction video like this to be posted. I'm slow at editing. I'll try speeding up the editing process. Thanks for watching!

II appreciate the compliments! Glad you enjoyed the video. I try seeking new areas to film but I am limited as to where I can shoot. My nemesis is any roadway with a southern exposure. This definelty puts me to a disadvantage. I'll keep putting vids out there. Some may have the sam'o same' view. lol. Thanks again for watching! Much appreciated!

in watching the end now i can see why he is the way it is with the leg in. That is an old mill i can hear the engine pushing the tired hydraulic drives which can play hell with you swinging that leg because the motor has to be reversed so the track turns the opposite way its going here....forget that lever throw and try to move you can really fuckyourself into being stuck as it. BUT i hold by my original statements they will do a good or better job on grade control with leg out. Stability being the number one...i missed the manhole jump twice now but he did it about perfectly. I can tell because he dragged the piles of cut material with him by not lifting up all the way leaving humps to for the ...if it was a big mill ...back tracks to walk over and cause grade problems ...thats all old days stuff none of the that matters these all the newer equipment are like cadillacs...if you see an old yellow one you need to immediately stop and use anything you can to catch footage of it...especially if it looks like they are going backwards...with the truck backing up toward it...nice trailer this fella is running too its called a cozad which are unique to the western areas of US and canada

I cannot thank you enough for passing on your knowledge. Very interesting and enlightening to read. Over the summer of 2020, I missed dozens and dozens of opportunities to video asphalt millwork done on local highways & roadways. The Covid pandemic has kept me away. Great opportunities lost. I will keep my eyes peeled for the unique equipment you aforementioned. I greatly appreciate your viewership and informative comments.👍 🙏😇

That was the thickness of our driveways. Our roads are a couple inches thicker. Our highways are probably 10-12 inches thick.

Nice to hear from you again, Maine Man. Parameters are climate, environment, subbase, soils and volume of traffic. This roadway is in the heart of the downtown core. Light auto traffic and the occasional LTL rig. This depth supported city traffic since the late 1970s. As always, Maine Man, thanks for watching!

I find those north west setups with a pup trailer goofy ....100 foot truck and barely anything on it

Just going by what the government regulates. There’s a dump box for each application. These goofy setups suffice quite well in tight applications. Thanks for watching! Much appreciated👍😎.

Excellent Mill, the 1200f was the first 4ft mill that could take it all in various situations where the half lane couldnt. AND they could get down into it and run with all the legs bottomed out...your front mouldboard would be the last thing to keep you from lifting a track off the ground. Now, Im not sure why but everybody loves to run with that leg folded in which is generally meant for gutter pan pulls and tight spots. The idea was to fold it back out after you didnt need to have in but over the years all iv ever seen is runs with that leg in and im sorry and im not picking on anyone, its retarded. Stability while walking is seriously depreciated, cutting is no where near as productive as it can be when leg is in the cut pushing the mill. Years into the production of these models the wirtgen techs could tweak calibrate them to run smooth as this one does as is. But i dont get why the operator just for the stabile feel wouldnt want it out....blows me away =. Ok Im done bitching. Nice vid @ the poster, wish there was more

I must say I greatly enjoyed your review of the the Wirtgen W1200F asphalt milling machine. I wish I had answers to your observations and questions regarding the folded leg. I’m only the videographer. I apologize for having limited milling videos to view. I’ve been physically distancing myself from construction crews during the 2020 construction season. Personal choice. Hopefully I’ll be back videoing asphalt milling machines once again in 2021. Thanks for watching! Much appreciated!

@@coolbigrigs Plz forgive my ignorance with it, at times i have to remember it isnt a crew member making the video and I assume to much. Far be it you see the 1200F again its very old. Even though one of the finest ever they retire them once they get this old. I cannot speak or type for the newer models which look very similar, and believe the idea would be the same and that wirtgen until very recently would probably still maintained the exact same system even on the next generation. Right now they are two generations ahead of this. You made and excellent video and i liked it despite my goofy comments. If you wish to get more video of this all you would need to do is poke around google using terms familar to where ever it is you live and you will find them come spring next year who knows with covid ....or if you live close to an asphalt plant they always know because they are filling in the hole he is cutting ....just watch for the dumptrucks hauling millings IN and they be happy to tell you where they are at. Hi way work is night, boring straight ahead no lift ups. You would get it well with city work where they are jumping alot of manholes....id LOVE that! theres few that know the good details of those thingsn and it your lucky they hit one buried you catch a manhole lid in flight or the poor operator crawling down into the conveyor to get it out. All kinds of good gravy on city work...and thank you again.
