It’s best to lock the tractor after some of the load comes out of the trailer. Release the trailer let it walk for the rest of the load to come out. Lock it again and bring it down. Safest way to do it and leaves a beautiful pile.
So that type of trailer is a good idea for getting out of mud. Thanks for explaining! Most "experts" are on youtube saying it will cause the trailer to turn over
They do tip easily if you're not careful with them got to watch the wind keep it as straight and level as possible and hope nothing hangs up on 1 side or high up in the trailer but if you're careful they're pretty slick trailers
Frame less dump trailer are nice especially for hauling feed but I personally don't like hauling lime in them but I've done it along with our tri axle cobra dump trailer which is nice now we use belt trailer mostly its faster and more stable I also spread lime for farmers as well I love it
Those two beams in the middle help keep it more fixed, instead of it just being held by the cylinder. Still, though, a high wind or a slight slope is still risky.
That little pile was 24 tons? That truck looks like it could have held 5 times that amount? Am I wrong? I just watched a trailer smaller than that dump at least 3 times that amount right across the road from my house. I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ Just curious.

Contact trucking companies in the area and concrete and construction companies sometimes they have trucks just sitting in the yard while they pour concrete or are moving to a new site and will make a good deal just to get the truck rolling and making money I always tell my drivers if the wheels ain't turning neither of us are earning
I live in Waynoka, Oklahoma. I hauled one load of that 100% ag lime from Mayville, Oklahoma from the dolomite pit down by Texas. I left the yard a 4:30am. With a grain trailer, got back to our yard around 3:30pm. Our boss thought this was a good idea, and we would just dump those grain trailers and reload it on end dumps. As soon as I rolled that first hopper door back , i knew we fucked up lol! Only a little dust hit the ground. 3 of us spent from 3:30pm to 6 pm unloading 2 grain trailers loaded with that shit, using pneumatic hammers, small sledge hammers and a snow shovel. Never again!
Oh my - not a good idea! I've had to shovel a couple tons off a dump trailer in the past because the trailer was not sitting level and wanted to tip. Never fun
I've been hauling lime for 16 years for an agricultural company and I've dumped it out of frame and frame less trailers thankfully we got rid of the frame less and got belt trailers which are awesome but we do occasionally use the cobra tri axle I loaded 35 tons in cobra then I had parked it for the weekend well the next morning it was froze to the floor I raised the box 1/2 way uo and nothing fell out so after checking the load realizing it was froze I began shoveling that was the last time I leave a loaded truck over the weekend
@@supertrucker12916 we like our side dump over our frameless for hauling this if our belt trailers are busy but belt is the best way to go I totally agree with you on that
Many years ago I drove tractor trailer here in toronto Canada and I was not it that type of operation. But that would be a very scary situation to have a trailer that high in the air to dump a load. Thank goodness there are more safer ways of dumping loads like that.
Yeah if you don't dump the air you got about a 95% chance of blowing airbags as the weight hits the end of the trailer and if only 1 goes a good chance the sudden shift will tip you over
that the most insane design i have seen at a dump trailer, it has no stability at all, but ehm i can see it works but i would not use a trailer like this ,god damn us :)
People don't realize how dangerous that trailer is I use it at work and I do not recomend moving the trailer at that height because it will tip over like nothing
I work for an agricultural company and I use frame less dump trailers I've had a few close calls but fortunately I've never laid one over but one of my coworkers have they were dumping lime on our cement pad and the load stuck and over it went
24 ton isn't a big pile and on backroads a longer trailer than necessary is nice for spreading the weight for small bridges so not all the weight is on it at once
That's not a frameless it's got a partial frame and the scissor hydraulic lifts both sides with even pressure instead of lifting the center only so it's more stable even if 1 sides loaded a little heavier than the other and my uncle has two 53 footers

@@skinlab4239 I've pulled my uncle's plenty of times and we owned a frameless with the single piston till I bought dad out and we chopped it up for parts for a project and scrap because it was beat up and so were a couple tractors that use to drag it around that had both been on each side at least once I know all about both trailers sweetie that's why we have side dump and belt trailers now for that a couple belly dumps for road gravel and a straight truck and pup trailer for fill sand and dirt a ragged old homemade trailer for iron and a couple lowboys and a spread axle drop deck for equipment but I guess bring on the lesson princess
As long as you can move decent it's not too dangerous they start going over slow after halfway they really move those are quite a bit more stable than a traditional frameless
Compared to the man in the vid and the rear-wheelbase, that pile is about armpit-high, maybe 4.5' at its peak, and 10, maybe 15' wide at its base. Lets use 5' & 12' and call it roughly a right-rectangular pyramid, whose volume is given by formula V=lwh/3. It's volume would be roughly 12' x 12' x 5'/3=240'^3, i.e. 240 cubic feet. Rounding up to ~100lbs per cubic foot of lime at the top end (usually 75,80, 90lbs) is 24,000lbs, or 12 tons. Still, i was way off, looks can be deceiving. It looks like a kiddie-sand pile that takes up 1/10th the truck.
It looks about right I'm no expert but I have been hauling lime for 16 years some lime is more dense than others sometimes it can be kinda like confection sugar light and fluffy and sometimes it holds moisture thats the kind that likes to stick and causes trailers to tip over
