The little brass cups are blank covers for fire supression emmitters and sensors so the ceiling looks pretty. I think the extra stuff on the water heater is a system that is supposed to tell you when the tank is limed up. They suck because they turn off the heater all the time with false alarms.

What you find with the fire sprinkler valves are the covers for fire sprinklers called Escutcheons 😎

I honestly do not know of anybody else who would pick through to such an extent for all those goodies, however large of small. All adds up right? Hope you make a huge score again for all that hard work that you can be bothered to do, whereas most others just "Dump it in the dumpster" and take no responsibility for it. It looks like he left a little bit of the change. I saw at least a quarter as he jumped out. Sometimes I forget what we look at and what he is looking at aren't always the same thing.

Those round white things are ceiling escutcheons. They cover up concealed sprinkler heads so all you see on the ceiling is a white disc. They have solder on the two parts that come apart when the temp reaches a desired temp.

The motor on the water heater is a fan for the exhaust. The exhaust probably went out on the side of the building so it needed the fan to vent properly.

Mike those white metal disks that you found in the dumpster with the sprinkler heads are beauty rings for drop ceilings to hide the sprinkler head they fall off with heat prior to the sprinkler head discharging

I say if you can shake the stainless off the magnet it’s good. I also read somewhere that even good stainless can get a little magnetism when processed, stamped, machined etc. because the machines slightly contaminate the surface with different metals.

When we were kids, we used to dumpster dive for aluminum cans and we used to find the coolest stuff to stock our "club house". We had the largest collection of Playboy Magazines.

That water heater is a older model high efficiency that vents with PVC pipe. That's why it has the motor on it

When I was a youngin we use to get paid for recycling paper and cardboard. Today you need a bailer and a semi load to even get considered for a pickup. Just not any profit in it anymore. Mike, you're doing an amazing job keeping all that material out of the landfill. Thanks for taking us along.

Back in the 70’s yes we sold newspapers to recycling places! They were sold by the inch! I worked in hotel then so I collected a lot of newspapers!

My husband says the motor on the water heater is to vent the gasses from a gas water heater out thru the wall. Some great finds tonight Mike.

It is a power vented water heater. That means It can be vented out the side wall with plastic pipe.

The water heater is a side wall power venter for plastic venting no chimney required unlike the one you usually find. I have installed literally thousands.

Hey MIke The water heater had a Brower on top to vent carbon monoxide to the outside. Usually in a situation where it can't directly out the roof.

A water heater with a motor on top is not weird. new ones dont vent out the chimney so they have the motor on top to blow out the exhaust.

I am amazed at what you can find in dumpsters. I do a smaller version of what you do where I live. I just pulled two totes of wire and some copper pipe from an old shower and a circuit breaker box out of a dumpster this evening. I’ll be cleaning that up this weekend.

Mike, someone may have already answered but the water heater has a motor on it because it is a high efficiency direct vent appliance. The motor helps with the exhaust of the water heater which is usually done using PVC pipe as opposed to a metal B vent. Keep up the good work!

on top of the water heater is a blower moter for blowing out carbonmonoxide.

The water heater is an induced draft water heater. It uses a fan motor to add air to the exhaust gases to cool them down and allows you to vent the water heater using PVC pipe rather than steel. It also allows you to vent the water heater horizontally rather than verticle.

That's a power vented hot water tank... high heat recovery requires exaust to be positive pressure vented outdoors... love the adventures and been diving some myself... love me some wires... nice haul there... sucks that been seeing more and more of the aluminum wire... happy hunting... That straight sander is used for auto body work. The water heater with the fan is a high efficiency gas water heater.

Those white round metal things you did not know about are celling covers for sprinklers. They pop off when the sprinklers go off.

The water heater with motor on top is called a power vent. You run the exhaust through PVC and out the side wall instead of in a chimney.

In the waste burning ovens here in Holland the heat exchanger units are for example made of inconell , wich is even more heat resistant

Hey Mike, those white metal plates that you found in the fire sprinkler dumpster are cover plates for recessed sprinkler heads. In case of fire that cover will heat up and fall off and drop the sprinkler head down.

Hey Mike that water heater you found is a power vent water heater it is used to blow the exhaust up a vertical pipe out of your house to help with tight spaces or to not have a vent out the side of a house. I used to be a plumber is the only reason I know man so don't forget about ur electric motor on top before you drop it off you're awesome man I look forward to your videos and keep them coming man awesome hit man .....
