I must confess...I sometimes go dumpster-diving to see what I can find and I struck Gold the other day when I pulled out an ACE LINE-HAULER. Somebody threw it out when it stopped working but I think I can get it going again. Let's get started.

I thought everyone looked into dumpsters 🙂 Great score and it is good that it is only a switch problem

I think this will be completely restorable and will be handy to have. I thought I saw the cameraman in a dumpster at the tractor show last week. What did he find?😊

This will also pull up a small anchor, I’ve read. I’ll be cleaning it up and putting it back to use. I hope to have the part 2 video up soon. Maybe you’ll need one of these on your canoe to reel in a 100 lb Walleye. Haha😅

Great find! I love when idiots throw things away. That's about the only use I have for people with more money than brains! I just wish I could find it more often before it goes to a landfill. You got it in the end but I'd look into an Impacta JIS driver. It's for Japanese Industrial Standard screws, like the ones that area always stripped out on the case covers of older motorcycles. Those things look like Phillips but they aren't. Those JIS drivers work amazing on Phillips!

Impact JIS driver...I may have one of those hidden in a box somewhere...you hit it with a hammer, right? I might have one but I never think of it. Yes, I love finding stuff that someone thows away because they didn't know (or care) how easy it was to fix. I see that the updated models of this hauler use a four-brush set up for more torque where this one only has two brushes. The switch on the new ones is also moved off into its own box which was a good move. This little switch was really the wrong one for this design and amperage. I'll be cleaning and painting this unit and putting it back together soon. I don't think I'll change the bearings but some would...they seem fine and really don't get that many revolutions in their working life compared to a motor that runs constantly. In parts of the country where crabbing isn't possible, some use these to haul up anchors under 100 lbs. I could have used one of these years ago when I used to have to haul up the anchor for my 16' boat, sometimes from quite a depth. I wish you every succes in your dumpster diving! Have you found anything good that you'd like to share? All the best.. PS more 580ck start attmpt video in the works...I found an injection line leak while watching one of the cranking over videos. It is in a line right above the pump and feeds #1 cylinder. That would have an impact on it starting or not. Craig from Everyday Projects

@@EverydayProjects Alright, so it's not the latest and greatest model, but for a $5 switch, you can pull some weight. I think one of those might be nice bolted on to the bed of a pickup and for loading or lifting. Probably have a quick release thing similar to a ball hitch receiver. Does that work like a capstan winch where it's constantly running and you pull on the one rope to make it do its thing? Busted injector line isn't going to help it start up. Then once it's running it'll be missing. Can you make another with some steel brake line or do you figure you're looking around to purchase one?

@@heliarche Yes, the hauler is like a capstan where you pull on the rope but with much less effort. I've been looking online for injector lines and coming up with nothing. Ebay, old tractor sites, dealerships...I'll probab;y have to call a Case dealership to see if they have old stock. These lines are heavy duty and can withstand over 3000 psi so brake lines won't have thick enough walls, I don't think. Maybe I can silver solder the line? I recently installed a heat pump and had to cut a line off, only to discover that it was a metric diameter that would not fit in my flaring tool, so I had to get some Sil-Fos 15% silver rods and silver-solder the end back on to the shorter line (video soon will be easier to understand than that). Long story longer, I have some Sil-Fos rods and may be able to silver-solder that injector line.

sometimes peoples throw things away because their time is more valuable to spend somewhere else to make more money than fixing the broken part. it doesn't mean them an idiot or they have fewer brain cells than you do.🤣 anyway, it is a good find. I only end up watching this video looking for some plan to build a puller because yesterday losing a battle to pullup commercial prawn trap at 200- 300 feet deep.

@@adamvu119 This was like a 10 minute fix. How long does it take to acquire and install a completely new unit? Money > Brains
