10 mins away is the dlr Lexicon, a fabulous new library. Lots of programs, esp for kids. And another 10 mins is the lovely National Maritime Museum housed in the former Mariners church. And just another 10 mins is Sandycove with it's small but safe beach ideal for kids, and around the corner the famous James Joyce Museum housed in a former Martello Tower at the Forty Foot. A 20 minute ride south on the DART with great sea views will bring you to Graystones and 5 mins from the station one of the best veggie restaurants in Ireland, the Happy Pear.

Dont take the 46A - get the DART and you have the sea view for half the journey and it's even more beautiful if you travel further along the line to Greystsones passing through the tunnels and cliffs of Killiney and Bray Head. The harbour is made of Dalkey granite, quarried all around Dun Laoghaire. It was built as a sanctuary harbour after the deaths of 400 people when two ships were driven ashore in the northeasterly storm of 1807. Also the train line from Dublin to Dun Laoghaire (formerly called Kingstown) is the first commuter rail line in the world. Thankyou for the video.

You walked the West Pier. Next time do the East Pier. It's much nicer and there are wonderful views from it.
