Danny G - I agree. Addiction is “the one ring” and only has one master. Any intelligence group wouldnt gambling with a field operative under this premise. It might give them pause on how this hypothetical person’s mind operates but better safe than sorry. However if that individual had a skill set that may interest them like remote viewing, knowledge of languages and or culture, 4chan nerd, etc, they might consider to hip pocket them as a contract agent or field consultant for a very specific operation rather than long term work.

I can tell you with complete certainty that any job in the CIA will require a clearance. :) and yes of course, a background investigation would be conducted prior to receiving said clearance, that's how any clearance at any level works. Depending on the clearance, the background investigation may be more or less thorough...sometimes requiring a poly depending on ones job position, description, and direct employer. If someone wants to get a high level clearance and are eligible for a job in the military that requires a high level clearance, all they have to do is take that job and they’ll get that clearance(with a clean enough record, of course) it is literally that easy. A background investigation is underway while said service member is doing their training, all the able they are able to do classified shit with their interim clearance that the DoD grants them while the clearance is pending. I’m saying this from experience not just googling bud. If one day doesn’t have a high level clearance and wants to apply for a job that requires one and say gets that job, that employer would first have to pay around $100,000 from start to finish for their worker to obtain a clearance with all the investigation effort and time taken. Do you get what I’m saying?
