this game changed my life, i played it as a kid and it had such a big impact that i became concept artist!

Dune 2000 🌐 One of the greatest childhood games. So much nostalgia 😌 Time to do a remake/update of this fantastic game.

Tears of joy and sadness How I HATE time for growing up

the golden days of Westwood studios, before EA took em over and fucked the whole Dune and C&C franchise up. Looking back at this you can really see that Westwood were studio that really cared about their games. The music was amazing, the missions were challenging but fun and it was an epic (revolutionary almost) game for it's time. This is probably one of my top 10 favourite games...ever :) thanks for this little nostalgia trip you provided

I used to send an engineer to capture enemy buildings with a concrete slab on hold at .1% from completion. as soon as the engineer captured a building I would lay the concrete down before the captured building was destoryed. Then I was able to build anything on their base so long as it was near the concrete I layed down (lay more concrete to spread out). Lastly, I would build a Baracks to 99% completion and put it on hold and train an engineer to 99% then put him on hold too. I would then finish the Baracks on the enemy's base with the entrance next to a building I was going to capture, make the baracks the primary building, finish training the engineer, and capture the nearest building. The engineer never got harmed cause the baracks was the first traget. Sell the captured building and repeat till the base was gone.

ahhhh so many memories!!!! I use to watch my dad play this game for HOURS on weekend nights.

This is the hardest mission of all, make one wrong decision and you'll lose.

This game is a masterpiece, I wonder what kind of people could have made such great work. And I used to love those dark purple super soldiers, has been my favorite color ever since :')

This game was the first game I played. I started playing this game when I was 3 yrs old. Had so much fun playing this with my uncle. This game has a atmosphere that others don't. Awesome soundtrack, challenging missions, nostalgic environment and last but not least its story behind. When I hear this game's music, it makes me go back a decade. My all time favorite.

Despite probably being 10 years since I played this game, I can still remember the what the various buildings do and how to play the game. This is my number one childhood game , happy times :)

I was (still am) totally addicted to this game. (some periods of 2 weeks non stop playing: just sleep, eat, piss and playing).

Tears in his eyes when viewing from nostalgia. 1st grade school, and then it was another world view, it's all very interesting.

Hardest mission in the game by far imo. Version 2 is a cakewalk by comparison. I only learned this decades later. As a kid, I thought the Harkonnen campaign was the easiest one. But had I clicked this instead, I might not have finished the game as Harkonnen back then.

Childhood nights and days went past playing this game

This was imo the hardest mission of them all. Even with a very similar strategy to this, I struggled against the waves and waves of enemies.

@UTCyborg Hey man, glad you like the video, of course it could have always been better, depends on how many attempts you give it. I have tried like 50 attempts beating this mission without turrets, but no luck. So only in this mission I use them, you can see I dont use turrets or walls normally so i suck at placing them :) The worm actually ate 3 harvesters (after eating 3 units he disappears), leaving me with only 1 left. Usually when everything works out perfect it is like 1 game out of 10.

Awesome thanks. "Worm attacks" still gives me the creeps. I always played Atreides and i always hated the Harkonnen missilies destroying half my base. Or was that on Dune 2? And i remember the massive nuclear Harkonnen tanks in Dune 2.

Balance was a common problem with C&C games, but I miss this kind pre-StarCraft era where everything is straight forward.

@Reinc01 Fastest production is 3 factories, it applies to heavy and light factory and barracks. No idea about Emperor though.

NOSTALGIA ALERT! O_O I used to play this game along time ago and its awesome.

Is there any difference between the 3 houses except their unique units like devestator and sonic tank and the airstrike and so on? Cause it seems like ordos unique unit is pretty bad compared to the other houses. No faster harvesting or something?

I remember playing this mission i think and i was almost in the the end, then someone touch in the power cable of the PSone who had bad contact and...... NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! @UTCyborg There is always some problem like this - worm eats you harv, air strike kills you important building, enemy comes with too many units at once or is just lucky. This was first attempt with turrets, so I was like let's wait until the big wave comes that will finish me off and I will restart. But I kept playing, but no such wave came, and then I knew I was going to win, so I thought it would be interesting to post this to see that the game can be sometimes won after getting fucked up.

Everything was more beautiful back then.. Nostalgia just makes me sad.

One of the things i liked about C&C and DUNE2000. Is that you could limit the techlevel in skirmish mode. When you just wanted to play against very hard AI level for 2/3 hours and just trolling them for fun. And not having to worry about those annoying nucular missiles or Ioncannon strikes.

I do this often except when I'm too busy doing something else and have enough cash already. But this is good in multiplayer to stack your cash and then push with many harvesters to kill sonics

what's the point of building two heavy factories? if you only can use one at time.

btw, how good are the turrets against vehicles, compared to rocketturrets vs vehicles? I cant remember, but the feeling says its rocketturrets are preferable .. :P

2. I have a big screen on DUNE 2000 while other out or full screen or whatever, how do I play with full screen? Can you do that? I have tried everything to change the screen resolution, the PC settings or compatibility. I hope you do not mind answering the questions that I asked you, thank you very much if you help me are desperate for days in search of answers: ( Thanks in advance

Also I would wall the bottom section first as yeah those are false bottlenecks. The Atreides tanks are easily agile enough to go through it, create decoy for AIs as their siege units stay untouched to shoot at your command center. in front of the part you first turreted are the actual safe zone for that Atreides trampling issue I mentioned before. So usually I just put my infantries there. The only issue is siege units but well it's easier to micro the infantry + rocket turrets right on the open zone. You have a backdoor via the spice hole at the bottom, so you can rotate your units in and out from there, circling your base, and striking every force that comes to attack you with Harkonnen's superior tanks. and oh yeah: leave at least 1 rocket turret on the bottom section, if you decide to wall them. target distraction.

Which capture programm you take for the videos? I would like do the mercenary, smuggler's and Ixian campaign on hard :D But i need a good capture programm =/

I love the copy-paste sprites of soldiers used in red alert 1, dune and command and conquer.

Actually all houses are equal if you know how to play with them. And yes there are differences between houses, not just by unique units. For example, Ordos strenght is in speed, most their units, including unique, are faster than in other houses, Atraides, are balances in all, speed, strenght and defense, Harkonnen sacrifice speed (defense stays same as Atraides) in order to gain more strenght, 1vs1 (tanks for example) against Harkonnen no other house has chance to win. Hope this was useful. :)

You should try the OpenRA version of Dune 2000, it's way more polished and the UI feels more like modern RTS games
