I read this book when I was about 15. I just bought this edition a few minutes ago from The Folio Society website. I should have it in about 5 days. I honestly can't wait! The artwork alone is mind-blowing!

I just bought the leatherbound Deluxe edition from Barnes & Noble, to replace the copy that got destroyed by my stepmother. I was given the first three books for Christmas when I was a teenager, and it took me about a year to finish the first one (all those visits to the Glossary). The next two went by a whole lot quicker.

This was one of my first purchases for FS (along with Wizard of Earthsea and the Epic of Gilgamesh) love the edition and love Dune! Completely agree, the book isn't slow- it is apace and has many turns and entertaining elements. Love it!

Girl....Dune is my ultimate intimidating read. I have loved the world since I was a kid and read chapters of the book but didn't understand it. I just picked up a copy from B&N to try to read again. Your edition is gorgeous! Where did you get it?

I've seen the movies and liked the first one a lot, the second one was okay and the third one a bit meh, and I've heard that the books went really downhill after the fourth one or so. So I'm not sure whether I'm willing to give the book a try, because though I know I will love the first one, what about the rest of the series? However, I guess I should just try and see for myself! What about you, have you read the other books in the series? If so, did you like them? :)Anyway, this edition looks soo beautiful!

Very beautiful edition. Great book as well but it's just too expensive on Folio Society's website.

I’ve just bought this edition, but the cover looks slightly different to me (and not as nice as yours). On my copy, the buckram definitely seems more grey than silver, and the detail of the man on the cover is much harder to make out. I’m not sure if they changed something but I’ve examined it in all lighting conditions and it just doesn’t look as good 😕

I've been stuck on starting the third part for a while now. I thoroughly enjoyed the first part and the politics, but found the second dreadfully dry for some reason. I don't know why...i hope the final third of it will redeem it for me...whenever I feel like going back to it :)

Dune, the best selling sci-fi novel of all time? Can this assertion be supported with some kind of evidence? Sales figures or the like? I ask because I immediately think about H G Wells, Jules Verne, and even Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Now 204 years old). 1984 by George Orwell, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. They're dystopian but still have a large sci-fi element. Isaac Asimov, Erich von Daniken, Philip K Dick... I do know Frank Herbert should have been given credit for about 75% of the ideas used in Star Wars. I suppose J.R.R Tolkien, GRR Martin, and J K Rowling wrote/write fantasy, rather than sci-fi.

The margins on the pages seem to be too big, making the book larger than it needs to be.

I would have bought this edition...but the covers colour palette and the illustrations are a big turn off 👎
