About Dune:
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

@@henry7696 if you pay attention, the heighliners seem to function more as a bridge/tunnel than a transport. You see in the scene when the reverent mother arrives on Caladan how there seems to be another planet on the other side of that tunnel the ship is flying through. Thats not exactly how it is in the books, but its leagues better than *both* of the previous adaptations Cronenberg-Navigator pointing-at-stars-magic.

The end of this scene when Paul feels the water and Caladan sunset for the last time reminded me of the scene when Luke Skywalker looking at Tattoine suns setting. Both scenes are strengthened with beautiful music. I dont know if Villeneuve was inspired by that scene. But if it were, it becomes full circle. Starwars took reference from the novel Dune, then many years later the movie Dune took reference from Starwars.

@@NoahJJCoolClips This is modern humanity 20,000 years in the future. House Atreides traces its lineage back to ancient Greece and King Agamemnon, son of Atreus. They live on Caladan, the water world whose name seems to derive from Caledonia, the name the Romans gave to what is essentially now Scotland. The Greeks had bagpipes, and today one of the last strongholds of the bagpipe is Scotland. But those weren't even bagpipes. That was an electric guitar, but obviously Zimmer's genius made it sound like a bagpipe.

I love how Hans Zimmers soundtrack both has its entirely own tone and at the same time has moments where you almost feel that the soundtracks previous incarnations break through. Which for me has a nice parallel to the nature of the Reverend Mothers and the Kwisatz Haderach (bookies will know). In this one, you feel a lot of Hans Zimmer, but also a noticeable note of Toto's soundtrack of the David Lynch version but also a very strong strain of Frank Klepackis soundtracks for the 90s Dune games. Electric Guitar + a slow, heavy, melancholic piano track and the Church Bell at the end, that's big Klepackis Dune energy.

When this track played along with the stunning visuals, literally gave me goosebumps. I'd die to witness the same scene again.

intense yet sentimental, ominous yet triumphant, melancholy yet uplifting. This is probably my favorite type of music.

This is the best track in the film. It communicates everything you need to know In one short clip.

This scene is up there with the Binary Sunset scene from Star Wars in terms of emotion plus music for me

There is more nostalgia in leaving your home forever. But maybe that's because this Paul had to leave his parents behind..

One of the best tracks by Zimmer. It gives such epic feels during the scene...

If we end up getting a series out of this, it could genuinely rival Star Wars.

@@dankmemes4dayz Well, dune is great, both book (duh) and this film, but star wars is great too. Stop fanboying, get back to reason. A new hope was nothing less than this film. Empire strikes back is simply one of the sequels ever made and everyone with a functional brain agrees.
