unsurprisingly, watching dune part 1 crammed into 15 minutes has left me feeling entirely more confused and overwhelmed than i felt after watching it in its entirety a few months ago. which is not a reflection of you, but of me. (im dumb)
Watch it again, at a slower speed! Three Tribes, Harkonnen, Atreides and Bene Gesserit. All fall under the Emperor and the Sardakar Army. The Harkonnen had control of the Planet Arrakis and were mining it for spice, the indigenous peoples are the Fremen. The Emperor decrees to remove the Harkonnen and puts the Atreides into power. However, its a double cross and the Harkonnen and Emperors army go to attack Arteides and try to kill off their king and the young boy Paul - who just so happens to be part Bene Gesserit through his mother Jessica..... at the end of Part I - we see that Paul and Jessica survive and make an alliance with the Freman. Onward to Part II!!!
@@patriciamakuwa503 I appreciate this so much!! My fiancé LOVES the Dune universe and we watched Part 1 a few months ago and I couldn't remember a single detail it was so over my head. He's been trying to help me understand what happened because we have tickets to see Part 2 this weekend!
Wow, incredible recap! Was searching for one that was clear and concise enough, and this one was truly the best one of the lot. (Love the jokes intertwined as well hehe)
I watched a few recaps but this is by far the best I’ve seen. Idk how you conveyed so much, so consisely, and kept it entertaining. Thanks for the work!
@@santirp04cus the first movie is literally impossible to watch for someone with a low attention span it literally felt like the whole movie was played in 0.25x speed with how boring it was
thank you for your work... Just watched Dune 1 last night and struggled to understand it all... I think I missed the scene where the woman betrays them towards the beginning.... Thank you for your work! Happy to be ready for Dune 2
OMG this recap is so good, making me feel the chills I had while watching the movie and it's also extremely detailed ! You intertwine the movie's dialogue with your own script which really makes me feel like i'm watchimg the movie again ! Plus you use so much of the score !!!
Thanks I feel like I should really have watched the whole thing again , before seeing Dune 2 tomorrow.. but this was a great alternative. better than the others on YT I've seen. Thanks !
Nice work. I watched Part One Crammed so I wouldn’t have to watch the first Dune again before seeing part 2…. But then you inspired my family to watch it anyway!
I just finished watching this movie and have no idea what was going on...the only thing I understood was the dude's dreams and visions need to be interpreted and the interpretation happens in real time during the movie...the whole spice trade war stuff and the worms all made me remember star wars and that's not a good thing per say cuz the phantom menace is like a really watered down version of this...like wtf did George lucas just RIP off this entire series? The one, the worms, the trade wars....all in all I really enjoyed this movie and it was superb and beautiful and needs like multiple rewatches
Job well done! I took notes off of wikipedia and watched your video, so I feel well prepared for the movie tomorrow. I am sneaking in a daiquiri, and my boyfriend is sneaking in 1/2 a gummy, so we both plan on having an excellent time. And I have to tell you that I started to watch another condensed Dune, Part 1 video, but it was done with what sounded like an AI voice. It made me crazy, so after 30 seconds, I couldn't take it any more and ended up here. i have to say the emotional rang of your voice added to my enjoyment!
Forgive my ignorance, as I have never seen this movie… But is it me or is this eerily similar to Star Wars, particularly 1-3 lol? The fighting, the empire, the visions of seeing ppl die, galactic wars, a savior lol etc.
@@FilmCram NON-SPOILERS. The movie was really good, im not going to overhype it because then you might leave with your standards not met but the movie was solid pretty much the whole way through. The movie is really LONG tho and im not gonna lie, you definitely feel it. I personally would've enjoyed having my first time watching it at home but i didn't want any big visuals spoiled for me and stuff. I like the first one more but they did not fumble the sequel at all. 9/10. Paul Atreides is a beast, i hope they make more Dune movies.
Which spice is it? Cinnamon? Clove? Peppercorn? Etc.? Just...spice. apparently it just exists it's not grown where does the spice come from? That's what's so bad about Sci-fi it's all consulted nonsense
this is a good recap but its a recap from someone who's read the book not a recap of the film. the most objective recap would be to just recap what the film shows and says not insert lore from the book. for example you mentioned the beni jesuit planting stories of an upcoming messiah in the fremen society for generations, lol i don't remember that being explained in the film, its from the books.
Interesting criticism as I have read the books, but not recently at all compared to the film. - The Messiah info is explained by Jessica during the very shots played out in the recap as they take off in the ornithopters!
thank you, this was very helpful! anybody knows until what page exactly in the first book is covered the first film? i thought it'd be easier but nobody is giving an exact page when, in fact, the film Dune part 1 ends at a very specific point that also happens the same way in the book. "about two thirds of the book" is not specific enough and I don't want to read again the entire book to find the exact scene lol. Thank you!
depends on the publication of the book that you have! but ANY copy of book 1 should be split into 3 distinct parts: Dune, Muad’Dib, and The Prophet - the 2nd part finishes at the end of chapter 37 that is pretty much this film!
This movie writing is what you get when a coked up intern enduring ADD drug withdrawal pulls an all nighter to cook up the most ridiculously over-the-top lore and the talentless producers correctly predict a pretentious fanbase would gravitate towards it with a healthy dose of: overuse of slow-motion, overbearing music, and inaudible dialogue.
Forgive my ignorance, as I have never seen this movie… But is it me or is this eerily similar to Star Wars, particularly 1-3 lol? The fighting, the empire, the visions of seeing ppl die, galactic wars, a savior lol etc.
Great recap thanks. Got about halfway and I remembered how long the movie was. Then at the end reminded me how mad I was that it ended, despite being two and a half hours long. And the new one's even longer! Going in an hour :D
