Cast was solid. Timothee was outstanding during transformation and last 30 minutes. He showed his acting chops when he was given the material. Rebecca was good too. Charlotte Rampling is the best actress.
@@nickhtk6285 Charlotte Rampling was imposing, calculating, scary, and funny. After Paul commands her by yelling, "Silence!!" the audience burst into laughter when Charlotte goes sideways and blurts out an indignant, slightly cowed, "Abomination!" lol Zendaya, Rebecca, Timothee, Austin, and Javier should be remembered at OSCAR time, too.
Saw D2 last evening, absolutely incredible! Denis Villenueve has sculpted a masterpiece. Each of these actors did extraordinary performances in an extraordinary world created by an extraordinary crew!
I watched this movie in IMAX yesterday and I can say that it is one of the BEST movies of the last 10 years. That being said, I am a fan of this universe :)
Z was the heart of this film, as Chani. Timmy and Z had me in tears at the end. Superb acting from Rebecca, Javier, Austin and Timmy. It was lovely to have Flo, Mr Walken, Mr. Skarsgard, Josh, Dave and Souheila in the mix. Everyone added a richness to the story. Kudos to Denis and team!
@@sajivdoley6949 Zendaya is Magnificent in this film. The Genius Director, Denis,' is right when he says that Zendaya is the moral core of DUNE: PART TWO, and that the scenes with Timothee' and her were so mesmerizing and then ultimately heartbreaking. I agree that Austin, Rebecca, and Javier as well, are amazing, too.
@@Lee-vb4vh Even the brilliant director, Denis," stated that he was mesmerized and then heartbroken by Timothee' and Zendaya's scenes together - while he was Filming them!
Rebecca is wonderfully expressive and exuberant, but Timothee, and Austin are wonderfully well-read, eloquent, and well-spoken. Josh and Zendaya are good writers. Zendaya is a bit shy sometimes, but she is brilliantly multi-talented, and gaining in confidence more and more. Denis' states he thinks she'll be a director. Zendaya is humorous and Florence is funny. Dave Bautista, Zendaya, and Austin have beautiful speaking voices, too.
@@TerryBrand-f7d I’m sure they are all wonderful people. However my point was that a Swede had a better grasp of the English language than any of the English or American actors. Oh and yes I realise Americans don’t speak English, but a dialect.
@@cariad4297 ?! Well, as a fan, I've been watching their interviews for years. They are maybe usually a little more low-key than dynamic Rebecca in interviews, but Timothee' is brilliant and had a straight-"A" gpa at University. He is eloquent. Austin is well-read and eloquent. Dave Bautista is Wonderfully eloquent. Zendaya, though shy, when she's in a confident mode, is eloquent. They all have a fantastic grasp of English. Some of the words they've each used have sent shivers down my spine. lol And Americans, most assuredly, speak English!
Florence probably won’t see this but I am one of many who truly loves Princess Irulan’s character. She is so incredibly complex. While the part was small in this movie it will hopefully be much bigger in Messiah. Florence was the perfect choice for Princess Irulan. Thank you Florence for taking good care of our Princess on screen! Chefs kiss. No complaints. You nailed it!
I'm really interested in what Souheila Yacoub's role is in this film, and if she will continue into Dune Messiah, she is one of the only main cast members who is not a mainstream Hollywood star, and its great to see Denis looking out for some smaller French-cinema/indie actors to put into this role. Idk its probably a minor role but in Dune it still makes an impact on the larger narrative
@@Lee-vb4vh Souheila's character is funny, loyal, and brave. She is Zendaya's character's best friend. It is partly through her that we learn of Zendaya's character, Chani's burgeoning feelings for Paul. Paul already has those feeling for Chani, of course. He had dreams of her before even meeting her.
Do you think that's her fault though? I don't and I disagree, I think she was able to portray the intricacies of her character incredibly well. She's just not as wild of a character as some of them.
Also how do you not mention Florence??? But ya, what an AMAZING film. It shows what Hollywood really is still capable of delivering and why the system is worth fighting for instead of dismantling
The Genius director, Denis' was pleased with Zendaya's great performance and he said that when filming her with Timothee' he was mesmerized and then heartbroken by their performances. Denis also states that he thinks that Zendaya will be a Director one day! He says she has the focus, the intellect, the work ethic, and the skill to be one. And of course she is a wonderful actress as well. Thus the Two EMMY AWARDS for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Zendaya's wonderful. As are the other actors and actresses in this Masterpiece.
Zendaya is amazing. Such Passion. She did such a good job of blending in to the movie I'd say I actually underrated her. Seeing her speak on Dune is awe-inspiring.
I heartily concur. Zendaya is fantastic. Zendaya's mother was a teacher and a manager of a Shakespeare Company of Players. Zendaya watched Shakespeare interpreted on the stage from the time she was 2 years-old. It shows. Great acting is a part of her DNA. The director, Denis,' speaks of being mesmerized and then heartbroken by the love story that Zendaya & Timothee' plumbed While he was filming it! Zendaya, Timothee, Rebecca, Javier, and Austin should get Oscar nods.
Solid interviews here with the cast! They all have so much love for each other that being a good sign. Every single one of them did their job to make it one of the best movies to date and the returning actors shined even more thanks to the new actors becoming part of this universe.
I was truly disappointed with how they presented Chani. I mean yeah she is strong and means so much for Paul and the whole story. But in the books she is a daughter of Liet Keynes. The Judge of the Change and Great ecologist. Also she was the chosen one to be next reverend mother, if Lady Jessica didn’t showed up. Through those things we can see that she has strong ancestry as well as inner power and that she possesses great wisdom. In the movie it feels like Chani is Pauls girlfriend of 6 months, when actually they are married and even had son and had full that family going on whilst they were preparing for the war with the Sardaukars and Harkonens. End she had to hear her husband getting merried with Irulan right after her firstborn dies. And her relationship with lady Jessica is far better. That’s probably the only thing about movie that I was not agree at all. But the rest was amazing. Also where is Thufir Havat?
Interesting info. May I ask who is Thufir Havat? I didn't read book. Also is Chami's character portrayed different in book or was there a change in her role for some reason ? Thanks
There was time compression in the adaptation. Events that sprawl over two years in the novel instead occur over several months. Scenes containing Thufir's survival of the assault on Arrakis or capture by The Harkonnens were apparently filmed but not included in the final theatrical cut. The influence of the two Mentats over the events in the novel are downplayed in favor of The Bene Gesserit.
@Lee-vb4vh Thufir Hawat is the Atreides Mentat portrayed by Stephen McKinley Henderson in part one. In the Dune Universe, Mentats are trained to absorb and process huge amounts of information at a lightning pace since computers and AI have been outlawed for thousands of years. Thufir's Harkonnen counterpart, Piter De Vries- portrayed by David Dastmalchian, is killed when Duke Leto bites down on a false tooth implanted by Dr Yueh containing lethal poison gas.
I noticed that, too. Chani is the daughter of doctor Kynes in the books, but she is not given that background in the film. I realize the film has to condense, but since Chani is a main character, it seems her background could be more fleshed out. Perhaps in the 3rd film. Paul knows bloodlines since he drank the Water of Life. He came to realize he is part Harkonnen. He may now know that Chani is Dr. Kynes' daughter, and they may speak about that later.
?! Brilliantly multi-talented Zendaya is wonderful in this film! Even the great director, Denis Villeneuve, stated in interviews that he was moved and then heartbroken by the wonderful performances of Zendaya and Timothee' interacting as Paul & Chani. Zendaya has deservedly won EMMY AWARDS for her great acting. And she won a GOLDEN GLOBE for acting, too.
