Man Alex! You make some of my favorite content. I love the ramblings and tangents, the jokes and goofy mannerisms and of course the sweet sweet games. Thank you for all your great work!
I have read Dune years ago and it took forever, the Audible version is absolutely fantastic. I too received Dune this week and hope to table it this weekend. Keep up the great work Alex.
Currently awaiting for my copy, should be arriving this weekend. Really excited for it. Still have not read the Dune books but I am a fan of the IP with the 2000 mini series from SyFy and also the new movie.
Any chance of a review before the re-launch of the Gamefound campaign? Roy Cannaday gave it a 10, but then he admits he was bias to love it based on content and gameplay.
I love Dune. I recommend reading the second book as well, though it is much shorter :) This game is very well structured with a few expansions to shake up the standard set up and explore narrative variants, without adding waves of bloat.
With the new expansion for War of the Ring, now is the perfect time to get it played and reviewed lol one of these days I shall finally get my WotR video....
I love Dune and I thought doing an Arrakis faction battle would be cool, BUT can’t see the replayability of it with such a large board. Oh well. I guess I can play chess!!
Wait! You don’t wake up until 8:30 or 9:00? Does that mean that Rina is getting herself and four kids up and out of the house every morning by herself. If yes, she is killing it as a parent and I have mad respect!
Lol yep, these days at least...with the 3am bedtime, that comes with the 8:30 am waking up. And yes, she is killing it. The older 3 are pretty independant but even so, 4 kids is always still going to be work.
No. To me, a system doesn't really work. If I can't remember what my score was at any given time. Then it's no longer a score. So much as a whim. To me each score I have represents a feeling I have about the game, which makes it easy to to define how I would rate it. If I can't remember whether I rated a game an 87 and 86 or an 85.. then that's not really a rating
Wonderful external big box but the stupid plastic insert inside a cardboard box is like nearly always for CMON hot garbage and immediate fodder for a 3rd party insert/organizer replacement. Tinkering Paws I hope you're listening. I call them out as they seem to have mastered the art of designing rail systems for minis. To clarify, CMON is focusing on getting the board game contents to you safely and not the ease of play. How many times can you play with these plastic organizers before they are a heap of plastic that has been torn apart and perhaps taped repeatedly. How many even want to attempt to get this stack back in the cardboard box they came in? Of course CMON is just too big to bother by backers to get them to design a long term organizer so why bother? Gametrayz? Black Magic? CMON execs are spitting out their drinks in laughter at the thought of outsourcing organizer design to them and offering the upgrades in the campaigns. Every time I open a CMON game I back I roll my eyes and ask why oh why do I put up with this? But then I drop a fortune on a storage solution and wait months and regain my sanity.
I know that's not your intent here, but saying things like "games are not good enough anymore" or talking in terms of games being "worthy" of your attention... those sound a bit elitist... It's very clear that the hobby has reached a point now that there's so many games out there that no one can possibly give their time and attention to all of them, even if they're all the best. So you have to choose what you think you will have the most fun out of and there are games out there that are touted as mediocre that can bring a lot of fun to the person. it's not about a game being the best or great or "worthy", it's about what experience you can get out of it. And not every game is a good fit for everyone. It's a question of tastes rather than worth.
Dude, please cur down on the caffeine. If you could slow down your speech, I could maybe follow you a little You should watch this video, not on speed.
