Classic! I rode these to school and back in the mid 1970’s. Brings back vivid memories! I recall the booms coming off the power line on the Opoho loop and the driver having to wind it down then reattach. Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the memories. Used to visit Dunedin in the school holidays in the early 1970’s when living in Gore. Went on to driving the old BUT trolleys in Wellington through to the early 1980’s.

I remember you Peter. I was a bus driver in the 70's and 80's too. Much preferred the trolleys over the diesels.

They laid on a special bus during cold winter mornings, with special cutters on the end of the poles to remove the icicles. Sometimes a spectacular fireworks display.

Hi William, Thanks for watching and for your informative and interesting comment. I've seen some of those fireworks in Chicago and in Wellington, and some pictures are in my videos of those places. Stay well. Cheers, tassiebaz.

I too travelled many a mile to school on these in the late 60's and early 70's. Was privileged to have a drive of #43 in Foxton with the late Ian Little in the mid 2000's

I noticed how clear the road markings were back then compared to the crap we have today

Hi, do you have any old photos of the one that's parked up Glen road? I believe it is bus number 4

Hi Cameron, Thanks for watching and for your comment. The only photos I have are the ones used in the presentation. I'm not familiar with Dunedin, so could you advise the time in the presentation at which the coach you are interested in appears? Regards, tassiebaz.

Such a shame these elegant machines were replaced by noisy smelly 2nd hand diesels from Japan. Same goes for the cable cars, if we'd kept them all, we could charge a fortune today to tourists wanting an experience of a bygone era.
