I hadn't realised that the Pars had been on 'Pebble Mill At One' and what a choice of tune for the song celebrating the club's Centenary, in what would have been the very early days of 'EastEnders'. I'm that strange creature, a Sassenach Par, from Belper, Derbyshire. Both my older brother and I 'adopted' Scottish clubs back in the late 1960s/early1970s when we were very young and we were having quite a few holidays in Scotland in Dad's 'Dormobile', during which we used to get the 'Wee Red Book' to follow clubs in Scotland. He went for Airdrieonians and I - after a short dalliance with St. Johnstone - went for the Pars, basically because we liked the sound of the names. I used to have the Pars' Centenary History book signed by no less a Par, as player and manager, than Bert Paton but, sadly, it went missing in a house move a few years ago.
As featured in the 1995 Christmas episode of _They Think It's All Over_ for Gary Lineker, Rory McGrath and Allan Lamb to guess what comes after 1:53 in the then-new Sing When You're Winning round (the clip is paused before the scarves come out)...
It must have been 1985 & they have a slight variation of the classic Newcastle Umbro with broader stripes with the neat V collar. Notice a lack of garish looking shirt advertising too.
