Starting off my series of covering every Demon Lord with a heavy hitter, Adimarchus, who has an entire adventure path leading to him. Check out the video to learn more.
I think this is the only example I've ever heard of where Fiendish forces attacked Mount Celesia directly, so thats awesome, to know that a demon invasion of heaven is even possible. And the idea of essentially Two high level archcfiends in on body is amazing. If I could make a request, for you to cover, and possibly stat Baernaloths? The yugoloth equivalent of a Pit Fiend/ Balor at some point. The whole 5e yugoloth faction just feels..less important without them. They need heavy hitters
I've actually looked into yugoloths a bit recently. I was planning on doing some stuff with them soon so I'll absolutely take a look at the Baernaloths.
Your instinct was correct. Radiant in 3.5 was divided into holy and unholy. It is divine power and rarely resistsd.. Anarchic weapons deal extra damage to lawful aligned characters.
When I ran it, I tweaked his background a bit. I ran it with the origin that he was ON the side of Celestia battling the hordes of the Abyss, when that region of the plane was jettisoned, sending him falling with it. He then felt betrayed by the heavens, beginning his metaphorical fall in tandem with the literal.
Honestly, it's probably one of my favorite topics to research. I'm just working through a backlog of videos but I'll be getting back to Demon Lords soon!
Aw man 3.5 . The mechanics have a palpable *clunk* to them we have since moved past, but my god all the stuff it gave us to work with. For context; "damage from divine power" almost always means "untyped damage that punches clear through any resistance". Hellfire in 3.5 did half fire, half 'divine' damage. Fiends in particular got to have a field day with this mechanic, with the introduction over time of "Corrupt" and "Vile" damage; Corrupt ignoring all resistances outright, and Vile being impossible to heal outside of very specific circumstances. This is all leaving aside the fact that Brilliant weapons ignored most aspects of your defense; armor and magic that imitated armor did nothing, so your AC against a Brilliant weapon was "10 plus your dex". Remember how that whip can auto-kill you on a hit and a bad save? Yeeeah. The end of 3.5's lifespan had some absolutely *bonkers* books, and everyone should look them up for inspiration. Also, great vid. I only ever had the source and splatbooks, so I never got the material hidden in adventure modules. It's awesome.
Gosh, 3.5e really had a lot to work with. I've read a good chunk of the main sourcebooks but haven't actually played 3.5e, though I do plan to at least go through one adventure path at some point. All of what you said just makes me more excited for it.
*most* 3.0 and 3.5 hellfire is half-and-half. But thr the Hellfire spells from Fiendish Codex 2 are pure divine damage that bypasses elemental immunities. HOWEVER technically by RAW that might mean it no longer counts as "fire" for, say, fire weaknesses or bypassing regeneration. Consult your GM, there's no official ruling IIRC.
Thank you for the algorithm help. Yes, I didn't convert the stats 1: Because I didn't want to make the video too long and 2: I haven't converted something as detailed and big as a demon lord before so I didn't jump in right away. I have thought about doing seperate videos on 5e conversions for each demon lord I cover.
@@nicthedm7650 i unsterdant but because you speak of the ability , why not illustre it with the old stat block in future similare video ? (for have more them two picture )
I'm just finishing up a few half-made videos and then I'm going full throttle into Demon Lords. I'll probably be writing a blood war video or series at the same time. Archdevils may alternate in there but I think I'll go full Demon Lord to start
