Have many Great memories of this Great Little town being stationed on Submarines in the early 80s. Really enjoyed the history, culture and food! Thanks for uploading this video as it brought back memories.

You were most likely born at the Rankin maternity hospital? I was born and raised in Greenock. Remember well when the U.S. nuclear submarines were stationed at Dunoon . My best friend married her husband who was stationed there.They moved to Louisiana after his time was up in Dunoon. It’s a small world. I live in Canada now. Yesterday I met someone who was on a cruise that stopped in Greenock! Usually no one knows where Greenock is!
I was stationed on Canopus in 70-71. Used. To go to Dunoon alot. Beautiful place and warm and friendly people there. Very well put together video! Thank you!
I worked there about 14 years ago for serveral month on the Countrside as a Locum Out of Hours Emergency Servide Doctor. Only Night - and Weekend Shifts. I was stationed at a lttle cottage in the wodds. Calls by night were an amazing adventure. Hale, heavy rain, storm. Sometimes it was scary to slip of the rood into the water. Once a week I went to the Dunoon Hospital to get new materials and supplys and then grocery shopping downtown. These were almost the only time I met other people. Very interesting and challenging time. Altough I became friends with the village police men and we had coffee every morning at the little convenience store. Everything was like being in a movie.

Where is everybody? I remember, back in the 60s, the place was so busy. We had a wee house in St Andrews Square, called Glenartny, every school holidays we would be doon the watter. Magical memories
I still treasure my Dunoon coffee set and 11:30 canisters even though the pottery was moved from there years ago. It's a William Morris pattern. I love Scotland with all my heart.
I visited Dunoon for the first time since 1985 last October. Sadly quite a shadow of its former self. Still a nicely situated town but it's lost its charm since the sub base closed.
Good edit, it makes it look like less of a shit hole. After the Americans left it slowly started declining. Now it's just a shell of what of and should of been.
The council isn't into keeping the grass cut, especially around Highland Mary. Most locals gardens are like a bowling green but, city owned property not so much. Dunoon was a very quaint small town back in day.
Salamat sa latest video ng Dunoon bro. There was a submarine base there but were closed in '92. I was there as a US Navy and we close the base. Nice to see Dunoon again. Baka makabalik pagkatapos ng Covid lockdown. I used to swim at the public pool there right by the pier. Do you know if is still there?

My dad retired in the states. I went back 10 years ago and seen some beautiful sites including the sterling castle. It nice to hear these experiences from others.
