We did this as a bit of a joke but I realised watching this back it could be an interesting demonstration of the solo strategy for someone who isn't familiar with it. I've got a long winded explanation of how this all works below, and supplemented that with Silomares POV in critical parts of the encounter.
Typically duo Atheon is done by 1 player avoiding getting teleported, which is important for 2 reasons. The first and most important is to avoid the "Lost in Time" wipe. This wipe occurs if there are no players detected in the main throne room for 3-4 seconds. The second reason is that the player who DOES get teleported needs to get out somehow, which requires killing the gatekeeper (who is in the portal) but also building the portal by standing on the plate.
Now remains the question, how do you solo it? If you need a player outside of the portal to prevent "Lost in Time" and build the portal but also a player inside the portal to grab the relic, shoot the oracles and kill the gatekeeper to get out, you can't possibly solo it because you would need to be in 2 places at once right? Well that is actually how the solo works, the finisher we do at 0:15 and 2:06 tricks the game into thinking we are still in the throne room, when in actuality we HAVE been teleported. It desyncs our characters so that on our screen we get teleported, but the server thinks we didn't. This way we can be in two places at once, prevent lost in time and build the portal all while also being in the portal to kill the gatekeeper, shoot oracles and grab the relic.
If you pay close attention to both POVs during the sections of the video where I show them, you can actually see that the player who is desynced does not appear to be anywhere in the portal. At 2:33 you can see that I drop the relic and it seemingly disappears, but Silomare is just picking it up in order to cleanse but since I am seeing what the server sees, I don't see him at all.
In the end it's somewhat simple - we both get a finisher as Atheon is teleporting us to desync our characters onto the Venus and Mars portal plates. If we get teleported to Mars then whoever is on the Mars plate needs to stand still (because moving after the finisher animation will re-sync your character and you will be lost in time), while the other person is free to move around to shoot oracles, kill the gatekeeper and eventually leave the portal. If we get teleported to Venus then whoever is on the Venus plate needs to stand still until they no longer need to be desynced etc.
