This is an awesome explanation! I didn't always know the differences between these and there really are major differences even tho people often use the terms loosely sometimes. Also, I love the yellow bag!! 💛💛

People often use them as synonymous I used to put together dupes and alternatives which is a completely different concept.

Great explanations. I agree with your definitions. I’ve seen some channels with a large amount of subscribers share “dupe” hauls and they aren’t dupes they are replicas. However, my thoughts are some of those channels are knowingly doing that to get by the algorithm. I am not saying anything is wrong with it but they are confusing people who don’t know the differences between the range of items available for purchase.

Yes that is true. I noticed that as well. But I believe they do that so their video is not removed by RU-vid because I don’t believe they want to endorse that either. But hopefully people would educate themselves on what the differences are before buying

Hey dear great ways to separate the three terms, now I’d like to add another point to alternatives. Alternatives can also be items that don’t look at all like the high end item you want but will give you just the vibe or the same functionality. For example I think the longchamp lepliage long handle totes are a great alternative to the Louis Vuitton never full. It’s quite different looking than the LV but like the LV it’s a stylish and practical tote which is kind of care Free. Now an example In perfumes. Glow by Jlo I’ve heard it’s a good alternative to the white Prada perfume. The smell is pretty different but like the Prada Perfume I heard Glow it’s a nice clean soapy perfume. If you smell it you won’t think ohh it reminds me of Prada but has the same functionality as the Prada white perfume for way less.

You make a great point! Alternatives can also give same vibe and function. I never thought of lepliage as an alternative to the neverfull but make a very good argument and I see your point. For perfumes I have really tried alternatives in that department at all. But perhaps I should give it a go ☺️.

Great breakdown! I think dupes and alternatives are great ways to try out a style or for special occasion bags. I was just walking down canal street yesterday to get to an art event and whoa some of the counterfeit items pass muster on a walk by glance. Also the street was packed with buyers which was a shock.

Oooo you are a fellow New Yorker! Yes in Manhattan there are a lot of counterfeit items. I’m surprised the sellers are never reprimanded. But everything has a market or else it wouldn’t exist. I definitely would like to get into the art scene here. I feel it’s like who you know or if you yourself is an artist. Enjoy the event!

@@ddbookie I’m a bridge and tunnel person in NJ but a short ride in. The art thing I went to was a digital interactive space called INTER_ It was interesting, but I’ve enjoyed other exhibits more. I am definitely not on the inside of any art scene but try to hit exhibits I am interested in every so often. I did make my own hat in June at a hat making workshop in Brooklyn which was hard and awesome all at the same time!

@@aprilshouseofflair well then welcome tristate neighbor. I used to do some exhibits when I was younger ( they were usually school trips). Perhaps it’s something I should return too.
