Rupert, this is very good! I am a cellist in the US. The one dying to play lute but can't read the tablature! Probably going to sell it. Really, this recording is very well done. Why did you stop playing? Your cellos sound is so even...I guess the lute won your heart.

Hi Catherine - thanks for your message. I gave up years ago - life events made me unable to tolerate music for a few years. Lute was a late barmy idea some 8 years ago that I've become obsessed by. Also, I have M.E> and just dont; have the strength to play the cello, but the lute is so low-effort..... :-) Have you really given tablature enough time? It becomes second nature very quickly of you start off with really simple pieces that inevitably ly repeat the same limited number of notes more often.. Go on......stick with it :-)

Hi Catherine. There are some transcriptions of luteworks in stave notation. But as Rupert says, the best is to start learning lute tablature little by little. The Neusidler 'Das Erst Buch', from which he often plays pieces in his videos, is a good beginner's tutor.
