Why does he struggle to dunk at that height It baffles me. Obviously he’s a better basketball player than I can ever dream of being but I’ve been dunking since I was 5’9 at age 15. With all the pro training he gets just don’t get why he’s so un-athletic

His pro training consists of his dad telling him what to do in terms of getting stronger. Lavar gotta let some actual professional trainers work the boys out
I agree melo cant jump but if you're really doing fancy dunks at 5'9 then you jump higher than most NBA players and can't really expect anyone to believe that without video proof.
Ryan Suhm tbh I was a national level jumper but then got injured but my point is he has unlimited resources available to him. He could get the best pro jump coaches and gym instructors. Yet he still can’t jump to save his life. Even now with my injury I’m 6’2 and can definitely jump way way higher. And by fancy I don’t mean Zion Williamson 360 windmills 😂😂. I mean like back scratch from distance, self oop off the backboard etc.
Yeah pretty much LOL I would say before going to Lithuania Melo was a better 3 shot than his brother, but Gelo is a better all around player now. I'd really like to see him going further. Melo doesn't seem to take shooting seriously right now for some reason. But his brother always does, like he wants to prove something.
Melo is not really athletic if you think about it. Most guys that are 6’6 in the NBA, or better yet even high school are windmilling and tomahawking. Melo is still rim grazing
I wouldn't say most 6"6 guys in the NBA are throwing down windmills but they can all easily dunk while weighing 100 more pounds while melo can hardly dunk at all.

Someone needs to hire an athletics trainer for Melo, because he hasn't got any explosiveness, look at the way Lonzo jumped at his age and how he jumps, a few weeks of depth jumps, weighted jump squats and Melo will be able to backscratcher off two. I feel like he isn't doing any weighted leg exercises, just hill runs/bodyweight exercises. Which is fair because he's still growing but yh.
