As far as I’m concerned, Simon has a an absolute killer voice, John is a god-like bassist, Roger can hit skin like a demon and, Nick is a Grand Master of the keys. It’s just such a shame that Andy is retired but I fully respect that. Happy Days, boys ❤️ The 80’s were feckin banging. 🙏❤️🤍💙
It's strange, I've heard this song over the years many times on TV or radio and always knew it, but have been listening to it more recently on headphones and have really come to appreciate the layers and intricacy of its composition. It's probably in my top 5 Bond songs now, though Chris Cornell's is still at #1 for me.
This is my favorite version of "A View To A Kill" ! I love how Simon starts singing it slow & it builds to a crescendo... Incredible ! John Barry & Duran Duran rule .... !
I saw Duran Duran perform this song in Atlanta 2018. It was incredible. I kissed my husband during the song so we could say we kissed during a live Bond theme song! It too was unforgettable!
As an 80s baby...who reps the 80s...we had the best cartoons, best toys, best movies (thank you John Hughes), we had the best tv commercials, we had John Candy, Eddie Murphy, Michael Keaton (Yes his Batman was the best and it came out in 89) just to name a few, best tv shows (not series), Who's the Boss, Married w Children, Blossom just to name a few and THE BEST FN MUSIC!!!! I seen these guys live in Charlotte NC and once they did this song (which I was waiting for) I cried like I'm crying now...80sBaby4Life
Tears in my eyes - 1000% emotions fealing my self - like in the 80th - now transforming to my kids ! Greetings from vienna - Christian, Greta, Frieda, Eva
Duran Duran nailed this one. An interview with Roger Moore and the movie makers showed that the band and this song not only went to number 1 it propelled the movie into number 1 as well. Great Tune guys!
Damn....that bassline though. The whole song structure....lyrics...chords...pumping 4 on the floor heartbeat!!! When all we see.....is the VIEW TO A KILL!!!!
@@Leeh1945 I thought that vocal was aboslutely fucking incredible. That is HOW to fill a stadium. Fucking hair standing power. Fantastic song sang fantastically well.
1981 was the first time I heard this band here in Ireland. I was 12-years-old and even then I loved them. John Taylor's bass is nothing short of sublime here.
I was a kid watching Roger Moore descend that fire ladder as this score played in the background my ears are eternally grateful to hear it come to life...I actually visited San Fran last year and listened to this as our tour bus stopped at the building it was transcendent
@trevortornadoes122 how do u know im taking it personal? I dont know u its just a typed comment on social media. Its personal to u because that is what u implied ok?i make a comment on here and i forget about it right after and go on with my life thanks for the reply back tho
@trevortornadoes122 the reason why i say that and i do apologize simon is young and always gave a good performance live i seen them a couple of yrs ago in the Detroit area awsome show not many singers from that era will lose it if ur professional entertainer a good live one u really dont lose it i know male singers in their 60s and 70s can still put on a awsome live show its just nowadays these singers have soo many gimmicks to back them up thet dont have to work as hard and its accepted and just because i call someone an idiot doesn't mean its personal its personal to u because thats the way u interpreted thanks for the response tho
As someone old enough to have watched the Bond films (liberal parents) and read the Bond books, I was thrilled when DD did a Bond song (they seemed ideal for it!), and LOVED their video the way they combined the film and the video. Hearing them do a medley is just wonderful! And John's reverence is just what I'd expect.
I miss the 80's. This is back when even what back then would have been seen as "Boy Bands" or "Pop Bands" not only played instruments but also wrote their own music. Duran Duran was a great band. They may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but even a man like myself who listens to everything from Metallica and Phil Collins all the way over to guys like Method Man and Nas.... I love Duran Duran... The 80's was one of the absolute best decades for sound, voice, and musical talent.
I am 53, and grew up with Duran, and THIS is F-----G EPIC. No talent like this around these days. You can tell that Simon's mom was an opera singer who taught him well. Simon and Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet are the real sh*t.
I don't know about anyone else, but I have noticed that many of the live versions of famous songs are almost better than the original. This one is fabulous!
Just found this version (prologue starting @2:28) of A view to a kill. Still goosebumps after 50+ in the repeat! The lower tempo and minimalistic sound gives it si much drama and put emphasis on the just perfect lyrics, knowing it was written within a week…
