Didn't know this video was still getting views, been years since and already got it installed, but never made a video of that. Glad that it helped ya some.
Currently doing a through the wall chimney got the thimble installed working on extension for the T support. Have to say while watching the video the whole time I thought you were inside a Farm Supply Store cause of all the other stuff there but then at the end realized it was in your garage with the dogs all coming in. Caught me off guard I was thinking you were unboxing the kit right there inside of the Tractor Supply Company store.
Honestly, if you can go straight up through the roof, ya get better air flow and much easier to clean out. Built my cabin and installed a straight pipe on a new wood stove and it works way better
thanks for posting ! You make it sound easy :) question If you don't mind. - how much of the interior thimble / pipe needs to be inside the home? My manual says 3 inches, but I'm not sure if Duravent means the pipe going through the wall or the thimble itself?. I'm installing in a shipping container, so I'm adding 2x4 to the metal container walls outside my hole. (Shipping container walls are thin - and I am adding 2x4 to thicken it up)
@@travispeterson5359 oh yeah, packed up, sold city house and moved to 8 acres in country with lake and creek. Total peace and quiet finally! Still rebuilding, taking awhile with prices and trying to relax too.
Correct if I'm wrong but you have the 9 inch pipe going the wrong way. You want the exhaust to go out right? The sticker on my pipe would mean pipe would be turned around.
Perfect information.. Exactly what I wanted to know. Looking forward to the cabin install. Where did you buy this kit and what is a good price. Thanks again.
@@davidshaw8846 actually, finally just finished installing this kit and you only need to make the hole as big as the triple layer through pipe which is 10" diameter.
@@pawsomelabrastead9244 at 2:30 in the video you have the double wall piece. What is it called? I just ordered the wall thimble, but I’m realizing that piece probably doesn’t come with it (I didn’t get the kit, just the wall thimble). Is that correct?
@@davidshaw8846 the round piece of pipe? That's just an 8" piece of triple walled pipe, I had to buy a larger 12" for my walls cause they're much thicker.
I bought one, and was disappointed with the product, overpriced, not even close to complete, you only get enough pipe to barely get through the wall, Duravent doesn't seem to know that roofs have an overhang, or they are just too cheap to give you the extra foot you need to clear the overhang! So, once you are through the wall you will now have to fabricate everything to get far enough out to clear the overhang that every roof I have ever seen has, unless you want to butcher your roof. At around a hundred and fifty bucks for a two-foot piece you can plan on pushing a thousand bucks for your flu and a bunch of headaches, not to mention the dented-up product once removed from the box. Wish I had not purchased this product!
