Local durian can't be freeze, else no one buy. You can eat at non-season because some durian's tree was growth in different timing, but not much. Of course durian in raining season was not that good.

Hi, currently its raining season in Malaysia. The quality of Durian produce during rainy season will be more to watery and tasteless. Some people say the durian fall due to heavy wind, so it was not properly ready and tasteless. Durian will taste more better if its ready during dry season. Durian should look solid and creamy.

Malaysia has 2 durian seasons, first peak month 5/6 & second peak month 11/12. Basically depends on weather. Durian fruits all year long but as guideline after hot weather, durian tree fruits most & fruit is dryer & more matured in flavor. I don't think Malaysian seller sells frozen whole durian in local setting. Too expensive process Just my opinion..

Certain parts of Malaysia have durian trees that fruit outside of the usual durian season. Durians fruit accordingly due to precipitation, that's why they don't normally fruit during rainy/monsoon season. But it's not impossible to get them out of season. Just that quantity is limited and the quality is not so good because of the weather. We normally don't freeze durians (because most Malaysians will notice the difference in quality), only freeze for export to other countries like China (and Hong Kong, of course).

Since you are staying nearby bukit bintang area...why not go to the Pudu Market in the morning..so you guys can enjoy some breakfast there.

During weekend mostly people hang out at the mall(KLCC,Midvalley Megamall,One Utama,Bukit Bintang,Times Square). Outside from KL your can go to Genting Highland, Cameron Highland, Bukit Tinggi. For the View you can go for KL Tower ( book for the rotating restaurant..it will be much worth it than paying just for the view)

We rarely freeze our durian here in Malaysia, unless it's for export purpose. Inviting someone to come hang out basically means going out to any eateries like mamak or something, either to eat or just have some teh tarik LOL. But you can also go to parks or shopping malls or clubs/pubs to hang out too but that is usually a weekly or bi-weekly thing la (coz want to save $$$ hehe) Since it's the rainy season right now, eating a hot sloppy burger Ramly or Char Kuey Teow or Satay is something you should try too, especially on a cold night.

If the durian is watery it mean it is not quite fresh .. durian is fresh within 8 hours after it falls from the tree ... hence the smells grow stronger and the taste is different .. I know because my family use to have durian plantation .. usually the durian that is not fresh malaysian will fermented it or they will cook it with coconut milk and brown sugar ..

Too expensive to eat "off season durian" now!! Take durian ice cream will do. :P

There are many places to hangout in KL depending on what is your interest. Some will hang out at bar, some mamak, some prefer clubbing, go night market, cafes, while some prefer to catch a movie. What is your interest?

Malay usually lepak(hang out) at mamak. Others maybe bars or cafes. Kids usually hang out at computer cafes. Its like manga cafe but no manga. Only computer for gaming. They play competitive game of csgo or lol with lan connection. Girls hang out at malls for window shopping.

Japanese expat usually situate mont kiara / hartamas / taman desa.. If you refer to local ppl Hang out area should be ss2 / subang

ichang, not season means the durian tree didnt produce a lot. Durian tree produce fruits all year round...durian season is when the trees all bear fruits at the same time. And yes, the next season would be around december. malaysian if you want to be general, we hang out in mamak stall. we talk, discuss, watch sport and even sometime do homework in mamak. but of you are asking what do people do usually at night....is go to the mall.

in my village at sabah u can get durian arround rm10 for 1set..1set arround 15 to 20 durian but only when durian season

What do you like to do when hanging out? For weekend brunch you can go to bangsar and visit the cafes...changkat bukit bintang is famous for bars.. etc

hang out areas: TREC, Changkat (Bukit Bintang) for night pubs and clubs. SS2, SS15, Jalan Alor, Kampung Baru for food at night. Otherwise, locals will hang out at malls (Pavillion, KLCC, Sunway Pyramid, One Utama) or more affluent areas like Damansara, Mont Kiara etc.

Some durian planting experts have the ability to control the ripening time, they control watering, manuring, or other ways, try to let the durian ripen not during normal season, so they can get a higher price (maybe double or triple)

You can get durian ice cream from Inside Scoop. There's a branch (same shoplot as Myburgerlab, #2 best burger in the world) in Mytown Shopping Centre. Take the mrt to Cochrane station.

The way Malaysian eat durian is either to eat it with rice or pulut together with salt water. You can use coconut water like the coconut milk in box (not for drinking but cooking). Make sure to boil it for a while. You can mix it using powder coconut and hot water too (not really that nice compared to the box). Mix with rice or pulut and eat it together with durian.

If frozen.....It would have to be musang king...And mainly for export for very high price overseas...Or near the farms in Pahang during off season. To sell in KL... not worth the cost of freezing.

because Malaysia got unique weather, some places may raining some places may dry so some trees will produce the durian. that is why it is called off season. not many durian in market

as a malaysian who stay in subang jaya i can say subang jaya is one of the best place to hang especially for young people because there are a lot of universities here

Inspector Durian, u may take mrt to ekocheras station opposite ekocheras shopping mall have many durians stall, udang merah durian is delicious, then after durian u may take mrt to the last station which is kajang to eat kajang satay, just right below mrt station kajang its delicious

I am a durian fan too, love it! Grew up with durian back in indonesia. Here in australia only get imported one, very expensive and not fresh. We also have durian farm up here in Queensland, top quality but very pricey! One day, can you do vlog about your country too like how you two did in Malaysia, doing the locals in Japan? Visit ‘Inside Scoop’ and try their durian ice-cream. They have many branches in KL. Try durian puff from a small chain called ‘Taste Better’. You will enjoy these two desserts. Actually I don’t like durian but all these are recommended by families and friends :)

Yes, a car is a necessity if you're going to live in Malaysia especially if you want to travel to places. Although you will still be able to get by by using public transport especially in the city centre area and sometimes may be better (like Bukit Bintang etc. Since, road traffic can be horrible and parking fee can be more expensive), it's just a little less convenient without a car especially places that public transport do not cover. Malaysia's network of public transportation is yet to be well covered.

just some tips when you want to buy a durian, when you ask they seller to find you a durian when he fond one and before he slice it you have to inspect the bottom of the durian, if the durian is slighly crack at the bottom it simply means the durian is not fresh. usually if is crack bottom it will be watery inside the fruit it wont be nice, it also will not have a good full taste. good luck on your search.
