good review. I've been looking at buying this tent, but here in USA Michigan it's getting towards late fall and winter, so I decided to wait towards spring before I get one. I've been watching a lot of reviews about it. I'm planning a big backpack trip next early summer and I think this one will be lighter and easier for me. I seem to always be setting up in rain and I like that you can pitch this tent by putting the outer up first. Thanks for the review. BTW, just subscribed. Thanks and hope you keep doing videos.

Nice vid... only one thing to note, and it's a significant one: the fly and groundsheets are Sil/PE poly... not nylon, only the solid's inner is nylon. I have the newer, darker green version... and even though I would have preferred the deeper sage colour like yours; or the 'army green' of the new X-Dome... I am overall pleased with it like you. P.s. My X-Mid 2 Solid, is the first tent (and camp/hiking gear in general) I've bought in 30 some years... Packed everything into a carry-on (minus stakes/pegs & Trekking poles which are prohibited in carry-on) for a 5 day trip from Canada to a Festival in the UK... I brought the Z-flick poles, which passed with no issue... A kind Festival Steward supplied pegs and a can of isobutane gas for me. Set up in high winds and then the rain started (only the first night)... the tent didn't budge and had no issues with condensation... that was the warmest night. It got progressively much colder in the evenings lol... I just barely had enough layers to handle the increasingly frigid nights (Hot sunny days though) as I only brought a 40f summer down bag + a reacter liner and no puffy jacket... August nights in the UK is a lot different than August nights in S.E. Ontario, Canada... if it was just a dry cold, that would have been one thing, but it was the cold night humidity, I wasn't expecting... I wore all my cloths the last night there lol. If I had just brought my puffy jacket to sleep in, that would have made a significant difference in comfort. The solid really helped retain needed heat though! I also packed my fly, ground sheet and inner separately, which created less compression stress when it comes right down to it... I now have to decide if I'm going to get a separate mesh inner for my 2p, or use those funds to invest in a Durston X-Dome ;) Anyhoo, Cheers.

@@Bretthall8 thanks for watching and commenting! I too really like this sage colour, and I’ve brought a new X-Mid1 Solid which is that darker colour. What an epic story! I love it! Haha, those challenges always sweeten memories and experiences for me! And next time, Im sure that puffer is going with you! Haha Oh yeah! The X-Dome is an epic looking tent! Also for bike packers! I think theres a whole market Dan hasn’t tried to reach yet, and the X-Dome, as epic as it will be for alpine and rough conditions, it’ll be superb for bike packers looking for a SL man tent too! So that will be on my xmas list for sure!

I'm new to hiking, coming from a bikepacking background. What are these armpacks you're talking about? You sound enthusiastic about it, so I'm curious ;)

Hey man! Yeah they’re pretty awesome packs; the short of it: they’re designed and engineered as a traditional backpack with front pouches + they have a super awesome belt system. I’ve worn a lot of packs and this pack is an honest game changer. I’ve tested them all of NZ, Scotland, and Ireland! Here’s the link to their website and I’d also reccomned checking out some of Aarn’s videos on RU-vid too! (I have a review on my page on their Mountain Magic 50 Pack) www.avantlink.com/click.php?tool_type=cl&merchant_id=f82b013e-d0a7-4a0c-bac5-c0e3675554e6&website_id=5f81a13d-c2b1-4a87-bbc1-e7237b588fa5&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aarnpacks.com
