Hostias et preces tibi | by Maurice Durufle | Bass-Baritone | Sung by Laurence Williams
An extract from a live concert in Segovia Cathedral, Spain with Islington Choral Society on their May 2024 Tour of Segovia and Valladolid.
The haunting moment from Duruflé's sublime Requiem where the baritone soloist offers prayers and sacrifices up on behalf of those who have passed from life to death.
Hostias et preces tibi, Domine,
laudis offerimus:
tu suscipe pro animabus illis,
quarum hodie memoriam facimus:
fac eas, Domine, de morte transire ad vitam.
We offer to Thee, O Lord,
sacrifices and prayers:
do Thou receive them in behalf of those souls
of whom we make memorial this day.
Grant them, O Lord, to pass from death to that life.
