The fact that you guys were able to made HD textures/models for a game with this graphical style and make it look amazing without completely butchering the original aesthetics is honestly friggin' impressive.
iirc (I may not) when the HD models were originally announced they were kind of supposed to be "bad" in a shitposty way, mimicking the "badness" of say the Half-Life HD textures. But this looks genuinely good. May as well go all out for the 5th Anniversary.
@@BababooeyGooeythere is a reason for that. Originally they were going to then all of a sudden some fan I believe came to them with some more HD Textures and they were so impressed with how good they were they hired them to do them all. At least thats what I read somewhere.
Kinda gives it a lower budget PS2-era/~2000 accelerated 3D look to it rather than the like, PS1/PC software 3D look. I can see being nostalgic for that era too, though not many traditional style shooters from that time.
@@RetroDeathReviews666 Why are you comparing it to Half-Life, I think it has more in common with Quake. Also the game looking like shit joke was an exaggeration, it looks quite groovy.
I love that it's still stylized. A different style, but it still fits. It's maybe a little more lighthearted visually than default, but part of it is the increase in clarity. Wendigos and Dogs are two of the best looking models in the trailer, like oh my god they look good.
every time I replay Dusk I say to myself: "damn, Dusk is a REALLY good game" as if I haven't confirmed that every other time I've played it. Stoked to have that realization again after the HD remaster
i'm so thankful that DUSK is still getting love and updates almost 5 years after release. It' my favorite NB title and one of my favorite FPS games ever. YOU GUYS ROCK!
I love that making this HD remake shtick came from a joke about people not understanding art styles and visual directions, and now it's become a great-looking sort of remaster!
Man, cant wait to replay this childhood game, I remember booting this up in 1999 as a kid and it was so scary, but as an adult I can better appriciate what they were going for now that it is in HD
You guys are insane ! The kind of games you put out with a small team just puts big studios to shame. Your games are AAA quality and just exposed a lot of players to this type of boomer shooters. You really started a big trend in games that is only increasing with every single game release of this kind. You are aware of it I am sure, but you are literally creating your legacy with every game you put out. You are doing so much more than gifting us fantastic games. A massive thank you from players around the world for all that you gave us and continue giving us. I love your games and I am proud to be part and help your amazing work !
Man, when i was but a lowly child in the 50s, i used to play this game on and of everyday finnaly after almost a century it's getting the remaster that it deserved
Getting an HD remake of a 90s classic, and ion fury is getting an expansion after 25 years in development. It's a pretty good time to be a fan of retro shooters.
I remember playing this game late at night in middle school and now my kids are in college, and one of them is a doctor. I'm glad such a masterpiece from my childhood is getting the remaster is deserves
I dunno what they'll make if they were to create Dusk 2, but holy fuck do I wish that, if they decide to make a sequel, it'll be named something like "DUSK 2 DAWN", or something like that.
It might have been 30 years but it still feels like yesterday when I returned from school to play the original eating some toaster strudels while playing...it were carefreeer times
Dusk is legend. I love the boomer shooter genre as a whole, but dusk….I revisit it like I do the ones that came before it. I’ll always replay doom, quake, blood etc. And dusk stands tall with them. It’s not a product pulling heartstrings to mimic what was lost, it was a new entry.
the guns look incredible, quake 1.5-ish and still honestly pretty fitting, though itd be nice to have it a bit more low poly, especially the enemies but i think it fits the whole "half-life hd models bad" joke aesthetic despite that lol
When I first saw the title I thought "eww this is going to ruin the look that I loved" but boy was I wrong. I don't know how yall pulled it off. And it's a free update. Gotta love it!
I don't know, I feel like it's a joke about the Darkplaces era of Quake ports when everyone was trying to slap high-poly models into it and it looked kinda horrible? Apparently there was some kinda discourse about the visual style and this was their response
Making an HD remaster of this inherently low-poly game just to mock god awful HD "remasters" of old games by making one that's legitimately excellent is the ultimate power move
Earlier today I got the True 100% achievement playing on Cero Miedo. For some reson the Soap achivement didn't trigger though. Anyway after getting it I wondered if there's any news about Dusk HD. Well here it is
