I was riding in Baja with my friend Marty a couple of years ago when we came across the race course markers. We followed them up a narrow ravine to get the feel of the course. Marty was on an XR650R and rode a looping path up one side and then back down and up the other side. I, on my Transalp (XL600V), chugged up the middle to the top. When we looked back we saw these tire marks high up on the sides. It finally dawned on us that the racers had basically jumped from one side to the other, Ricochet Rabbit style, all the way to the top. Man, we were not even on the same planet, skills wise!
My son was playing with his 4x4 toy truck and I was just looking for something on Amazon for him to watch and spark his imagination, so clicked on this movie. I was spell bound for the next 1 hour and 40 minutes.....I'm not even a fan of offroad racing, but this is best race documentary I have ever seen. Correction, I wasn't a fan of off road racing, I am now....
The music, the interviews, the breathtaking scenery, Malcolm Smith cameos, the literal non-stop action that would suck the air out of you. One of the best motorsports documentaries ever. Right up there with On Any Sunday. I will definitely see you before the day I die Baja California. Maybe even on a stock pre 1982 VW Bug :)
@nokmuay1970 paris to dakar lasts several days. you can fix the trucks. the baja is a race over 1000 miles, it is a non stop race that lasts longer than the 24 hours of le mans and the vehicles and drivers have to last the wholle thing. the perentage of entries that dont finish is about 40 percent
some much respect for mouse mccoy...first person ever to ironman the 1000 on a dirtbike and it took four more years for someone to do it again. the second person to do it was mike korenwinder (who was in his 50s) in 2008. he is from tulare california ive seen korenwinder ride i camp with him in california city he is badass. he also did win the 1000 that he ironmanned. but still alot of my respect goes to mike mouse mccoy. mike mccoy & mike korenwinder are the two people i look up to the most.
To any one who sees this comment... WATCH THIS MOVIE! just finished watching it on discovery channel ....AMAZING by far the coolest thing i have scene!
Ever since I saw Dust to Glory, VW Bugs have been growing on me. Then I got "Fist Full of Dirt" DVD from Walmart, & I'm just hooked. There's a modified red Bug that get about 3-4' feet of vertical air, & clears about a 30' foot distance !!! Just Wicked! Air-Cooled baby !!!
