I always dreamed of finding me a girl who loved the Mopar and doing crazy line lock burnouts on our driveway. I'm so lucky I found one. And she even builds her own. Oh and. That is a sweet car, and also I'm super happy your not some ass hole guy who let's the car sit and rust. Awesome guy awesome car awesome family.
Brings back memories. Woodward dream cruise 1999. Driving my 90 454SS pickup. Stopped and a kid on his fathers back looking at us. His dad yells to his kid 454SS do a burnout. I look over at my friend he shrugs says okay. I do brake torque. 275 60's light up..2nd gear, 3rd gear. Let rpms come down to about 1500rpm. Tires still just roasting. Finally let off. Look and we had put a wall of smoke up 50ft and both sides of woodward. Median included. Just another great memory of that truck.
I used to tractor pull at our town fair on cement. Some years 10,000 lbs tractors would pull 450%. You could get the tires hot enough to pop the cement. That's with a stock farm tractor. Love Dusters, cool video.
New sub, I had a 69 Coronet with a 318, they are damn good engines, put almost 400,000 miles on it, 3 transmissions, sold it dirt cheap. Nice ride bruh✌
Actually, I'm dad and this is(at the time) my 16 year old daughter and the child in the back was family in visiting for her birthday. But it was awesome. Especially in front of about 50 teenagers.
@@kenmiller5937 My apologies. No disrespect intended. I Assumed(I know) it was Mom(driving) Dad and your children. The appreciation stands though w/Added Awesome Dad! I have an 11 & 12 year old Daughter who are thrilled this is your Daughter. The oldest was all loving Cobra Mustangs. She just asked if your Duster has a 340 or 360. She is Amazed how wicked that sounds. Maybe we have pulled her back from the darkside😏
@@jonpaulcottrell7314 No worries. Just clarifying. I have 2 daughters that are just a year apart as well (now 23 and 22). This is my youngest. They both drive Sebring convertibles. The oldests dream car is a Viper ACR. As far as the Duster it's just a 318. I have a 360 for it just have never gotten around to putting it in. I have a 19 year old son as well. He has a Scamp that currently takes up most of our extra time.
Front wheel drive my Ass! True Mopar performace in a grocery getter. Peel out Man! Burn rubber man! Get on it man! Boy I miss those days. Rock-n-Roll! Shawn
Well, time to put on another set of tires. My 340 Duster used to melt rubber and the asphalt in the 80's. : ) Do you have a pinion snubber on it? When my son turned 16 he wanted me to give him my Duster lol I don't think so...
And that looks like it was on course cross brushed concrete so that stuff's got some grip!!! So he let go about 20,000 miles worth a rubber right there in two spots.......nice
Thanks. New tires were already in the works at the time. These were just starting to get cracks in the sidewalls, so I thought this was a good way to send the off. She was smiling for weeks after.
Having one is nothing to be ashamed of. Corvette rallies is interesting though. Ford and Mopar shared bolt patterns then not GM. Curious how it was accomplished.
Curious whats under the hood! 340-360? Is the rear end tubbed? Just bought a 74 duster of my own! Love the sound of those pipes shooting out in front of the rear tire! Great vid man!
Zack it's actually a 318 just with a healthy cam. 727 with a reverse manual valve body and a narrowed 9 inch rear with 4:10s. It been mini tubbed and has subframe connectors. I have a 360 for it but so far just having fun with it. Brought it from a guy who was going to put a big block in it he bought it from someone else neither one really knew what they had pretty sure they were both Chevy guys just from talking to him. Tried telling me it was numbers matching. The engine is a 90s block (still has the factory black paint) and still has the clutch pedal tucked under the carpet. Was stored in a barn for 11 years. As far as the exhaust I had the headers open for the video (it has cutouts) usually it's pretty quiet for the street.
Ken Miller Awesome! More about the engine.. Are you running stock heads or aftermarket? And what cam exactly are you using? Were currently in the process of building a 360 for our 74, just looking for possibilities of cams and whatnot.. Thanks!
Zach Ferdinand I brought the car as is so I'm not sure on the specs. The heads appear to be original to the engine. The can I'm guessing is in the high 400s maybe 500 lift range. Duration seems to be close to 300. Without taking it apart these are just guesses. Really depends what your after and what you can afford. Try the Facebook page Plymouth Duster or the forum page www.forabodiesonly.com good luck let's see the progress sometime.
Well I wanna know what is the motor Sweet sounding cammed out Dodge Buddy had a 340 blue black striped duster in high school back in the 80’s We would supply him and everyone else with all the fake spare tires they used to put in the cars back then as spares Weekends were burn out Saturdays and muddin sundays Good times
Ken Miller Thanks for the reply Oh hell yeah Just a 318 Sounds pretty cammed out Looks as though it pulls well 318 can built out to 340 specs I believe
What motor was in this thing? Wowee, I mean it sounds like a small block mopar but damn it’s mean! I have a 74 Charger with a 318 and I’d love to get her sounding a little bit like this
Yes the concrete was new. The marks are still there. I look at them and smile. I paid for the concrete and the new tires. As I said in the description this was her 16th birthday party and her present from me. You can't put a price on childhood memories for the kid or the parent. No regrets.
Would love if it was Tawny Gold GY9 but this is Tahtian Gold JY9. Both are Y9 but the first letter makes the difference GY9 was not available on a Duster in 73. But this is a Mopar, never say never. Stranger things have happened. Just not in this case unfortunately.
Yup any car can burn up a set of 12.50 inch Mickey Thompson stickies into 3rd gear. Seriously, it wasn't done to impress anyone it was my present to my 16 year old daughter. All in good fun.
I had my hand on the shifter just in case. The shop was mostly empty and there is a door straight across to the other side. Tried to think it through. Thank you. She was smiling for weeks after.
