I love their love because as a young gay guy... can I say that? Tom is a year younger than me. As a young gay guy, it means a lot to see two men who are so into what they do career wise find and support each other in such an openly sincere and sweet way. Also I want Lance to write a book about how he still looks 25 when he's in his 40s

Who gives a damn about age? Yes Dustin is older, so what? They both legal age, they both love each other, what more do you need? Age and love are too very different things.
I have such good feelings about both Lance and Tom. First off, I found myself chuckling a little when Tom talked of Lance being "twice his age." Since I am "68 going on 69" (a variation on "The Sound of Music," lol), I should be so old! I briefly met Lance, but I haven't met Tom, yet I feel this good feeling for both for different reasons. In the case of Lance, I came up to him outside the Castro Theater after the premiere of "Milk" and told him---based on my experiences of not only actually trying to write s screenplay once as well as being an amateur film historian--- he was going to win the Oscar for his screenplay. So, I have a cinematic crystal ball. In the case of Tom, the feeling is different because when I was in the closet in the 1970s, I was a professional sports writer who covered big league baseball and football. Granted, sports like swimming or track and field are a little easier for gay athletes than being a (hush-hush) gay athlete who hits a grand slam home run, yet the atmosphere for any gay athlete usually is some element of caution. So, these young man are heroes to me. Long may they smile and love each other.

I was a little weirded out when I first learned about the age difference... but watching this, you can tell that their lives are full of mutual repect, mutual admiration, and a really strong bedrock of love. All my best wishes to the happy couple!!
This comment is old to respond to but I want to leave mine for anyone reading after this…age only becomes an issue where there is a power dynamic at play. With Tom, he was forced to grow up quicker, he has his own money, he is the more famous one etc. So he isn’t dependent on Lance. If that was the case, it would be a completely different dynamic that could cause problems.
@@dananezat This is an excellent point! And in the four (wow) years since I made this comment I got into a relationship of my own with an age difference. Once both parties are adults who can stand on their own two feet, age doesn't *have* to be an issue. If you have equal power, a shared vision of how you want a relationship to be, and equal voice, then there's no inequality to exploit -- which is often the issue when age-gap relationships do become problematic.
I agree with everything except Tom being more well known. It depends on what you are into.....not everyone is into sports.......after all Lance is a well respected writer...producer....director...activist and Oscar winner. So depending on what circles you travel in I would guess they are both pretty famous.
@@serendipit_y Definitely - an important question to ask yourself when you or a loved one is in a relationship, especially with a large age gap or other possible power imbalance, is how you/they would do after a break up. For example, there's nothing wrong with being a stay at home parent, or generally staying home if you can afford it - but if someone goes from living with their parents to staying at home full time without their own source of income, that often means they're easier to manipulate into staying in a bad relationship (because they have nowhere else to go). Generally, if someone financially stable coerces someone else into giving up on further education/training or to stop working, that's something to be wary of - can be fine, but it shifts the power dynamic. Experience is another thing, if someone doesn't have much experience with relationships it can be harder to judge what's normal/okay - but often a smaller issue in the lgbtq community because people have their "firsts" at vastly different ages due to stuff like homophobia. Obviously, "I changed his diapers when he was a baby and we're now married" is weird af as well - if you had a parent like relationship with someone growing up, then a) no sane person is gonna see them in a sexual way anyways, and b) that's very easy to manipulate. Age gaps that are fine when both people are consenting adults are not fine at all when one party isn't (shouldn't have to be said, but unfortunately some folks still argue against that), or they had some sort of relationship during that time.
I love this entire video and the message. You can tell that Lance is a writer from his excellent way with words. However, beyond all of the deep stuff, the final clip is still my favourite
Tom Daley is an absolute credit to his family, especially his Dad who passed away to young but would be so proud of him. I’m from Plymouth and as far as I’m concerned he’s our first son. Such a delight and also so brave.
Tom and Dustin are such a beautiful couple and lets all hope that their love will always be there for each other. I would hate to see any other way than together.

No matter how it seems, you really are an incredibly fortunate person to have the (one and only) tom daly as your husband. I do mean that with respect . For what an honor to have the privaledge to be openly gay at such a young age and to be able to be openly married with all the world at your feet. What an exciting adventure life can be when your with the love of your life and all is happy. Very handsome couple yaull are and peace beyond all understanding be with the both of you .
Wow. Lance could have finished his Associates Degree in College by the time Tom was born. Absolutly crazy, you love who you love, no need to rush, two decades a part.
He should have had the Gold. I don't know what happened to Tom, but he must have lost confidence in the end, He was doing so well from the beginning. I have to say, I was a little shocked at the results, At least he got the Bronze in the Pairs Comp.

This is a truly beautiful love story, Thank God times have moved on for gay people. I though Dustin was about 7 years older than Tom:-0 Christ ! age is not an issue when true love comes to visit.
