Keep all original spec, including motor. Just update fuel injection. Also try to find a replacement ZF autobox. If upholstery / carpet etc need replacing I think there are specialists around who can replicate the stock materials. Getting the dash wrapped is a clever idea.

Hey Dusty, if the 3 liter is in good shape, turbocharging is a good move. Turbo kits are around for the M30 used and new. The M30 loves turbocharging, and the e12 530i already has low comp 8.1:1 pistons. With intercooler an easy 300 hp, with the torque to go with it, like an e12 Alpina B7. The Euro M90 is just as effective as a stock e28 S38, but the M90 has a very wide power band, it picks up revs quick and the power stays with you. It has a lower comp than S38 (9.3:1 vs 9.5), uses L-jet and you get to keep the log manifold. M90s are more plentiful than S38s and cheaper.

Hold off on painting it for now.

I hope you realize you have a one year only E12 US 530i phase 1. Don't be stupid in putting an S38 or even a V12 in this car, this is a pretty rare one and I've been looking for one for a while with no luck ...

Bro, which all later generation bmw engines would fit in an E12? I have an E12, but engine was swapped with an isuzu engine by previous owner😫

Paint it bc of this color green. If it was orange or brown than I would leave it. Replace the roundel with a classic one. Delete the rear side lights.

Respray an restore the car worth a lot in europe and above keep it original

The color is apple green non metallic and not attractive. A full respray in a better metallic green will be more than the car is worth. Please post an update Part 3 and tell us what you fid
