A few pieces of inside info for all asking/commenting... The crowd size was around 1,100 which, at the time, was a paid attendance record for the company. The narrative that it's an "empty building" isn't accurate. The venue holds over 6,000, but those empty seats were never put on sale, as the venue was configured to where only part of the arena was used. The vast majority of tickets put on sale were sold. Also, the lack of music is due to the venue's equipment malfunctioning about half-way through the event. Enjoy!
You have a tremendous legends match like this and you don't think to have music. This is why local promoters can't attack big talent like this. Incidently Jerry's artwork of which he gave me a piece is a fantastic artist of which Elvis himself had a piece.
I remember when this was. I am from the Johnstown area and IWC was not televised there and did not not know about the show. Most of the people in the area did not know about the show. The card was one of the best card ever. But the Johnstown market was a hardcore WWE market place for Vince and his family were from that area for years. The fans there back were loyal to the mighty WWE. However KCW - Keystone Championship Wrestling and IWC - International Wrestling Cartel were trying to fill the void that ECW had there. Over a 1,000 people at a show with limited promotion in the dead of winter is amazing. But that show is now classic due to all the stars that became household legends since. From what I heard Sonjay Dutt vs Chris Hero and Dean Radford, Alex Shelley, JT Rodgers, & Troy Lords vs Super Hentai. Al B. Damm, Jimmy Jacobs, & Eric Xtasy in an elimination tag match were amazing.
I know wrestling had to change, but it didn't change for the better. Wrestling from the 80's and 70's will always be by far the best with real heros and icons. Not these modern shaved chest fruits .
This is how wrestling is ! Like being a rock star ! You do whatever you have to do to get in the business ! Sleep in a van, practice daily, eat bologna then you start out in small bars or school gyms! Then after awhile you make a name and make it big ! Making big money ,you think it will never end! Then time or age sweeps in and your back in the small bars and schools again, Working for half sold houses !
Poor Dusty must have felt like a piece of furniture. He got in the ring and got ignored entirely and just had to stand around doing nothing for 10 minutes.
Rhodes was so old and fat here that he didn't dare take his shirt off. I've seen better fights in the parking lot of a WalMart. Rhodes is 58 years old here.
