Have always loved Gene Pitney 's version, but Dusty is right up there with him. A duet with those 2 greats doing this song! Wow. Can only imagine how great it would have sounded. If only.....
Strange isn't it?one song from Dusty is never enough, once I start listening, Bam! I'm hooked and I'm searching for her songs and interviews for hours & hours. God how I miss yer lass. R.I.P Dusty, ever your's Ray ♥ X X X
I think that,s a fantastic thought . Maybe a duet with Gene would have been a good thing . To see them both singing and smiling together.Just like in the video with Marc Almond "Something,s got a hold of my heart." My own opinion is many talented singers and bands both in Britain and America were overshadowed by the supergroups ie. The Beatles and The Stones .Her music with The Pet Shop Boys proved her talent beyond doubt many years later in her career , her voice as sweet as ever , for me she could sing as well as the best of them today.A true example of Pop music of the 60,s that will survive for decades to come .Oh Dusty you would never have got 24 hours away from me ! No way!
I've been a fan of this really great lady for many years but hadn't heard her version of this song. Whatever Dusty does is always superb and, with the Pet Shop Boys, amazing!
"...and I hope I remember it too" and then she sings it flawlessly. I have now rediscovered the great Dusty Springfield. I had the Dusty in Memphis recording, but did not know her early career. Started on RU-vid and heard "I only want to be with you" and remembered that from my childhood, yet did not know who sang it. Then I heard, "You don't have to say you love me". Simply brilliant artistry. Dusty, that VERY rare singer who could actually SING and convey meaning. No computer to keep you in tune etc. I so miss great music with melodies. RIP Dusty.
Class, taste, style, talent, intelligence, and grace all rolled up into one beautiful package...Dusty Springfield. What more could you ask for? Unfortunately, when they made her they broke the mold. She was one of a kind.
This is yet another Bacharach-David cover Dusty sang that rivaled the original hit by Gene Pitney. She just never ceases to amaze me and each time I hear her I fall madly in love with that voice all over again!.
This music ,l call The Classics! We will never see the likes of this music and talent again! We were truly blessed,to have lived in this generation. Peace!
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR - MEEE TOO ! I never heard this song until this year so it's like brand new from the record store. I love it. What a wonderful person she is. God Bless her.
A rather sad, poignant , and moving ballad by Bacharach and David , in a distinctly Mexican tone , beautifully sung Dusty Springfield . A favourite of mine ; well done all !
She could rock and jazz too....many good singers exist still now,but artists like dusty springfield, diana ross ,amy winehouse, ronnie spector ecc. Have something of special about talent
