Worst thing I ever found in a radio, was a hundred or so bottle caps under the chassis of an RCA 262 from an antique mall that was in Monroe at the time about 15 years ago, but now gone. Wouldn't have a clue how those got in there.

Grandson dropping them into cooling slots on the chassis thinking it works like a juke box.😅

I got two that'll beat that one. In the 1980's a fellow brought a VCR into the shop, in early January. The tape door and faceplate were beat to hell, and when you moved the VCR, it made a terrible metallic sound like ball bearings rolling around. It was actually BB's inside. He had given his son a spring-loaded BB pistol for Christmas, and the boy found that he could make the door pop open if he hit it with a BB. I told him to just buy another VCR. Then there was the time that I opened up a Fisher receiver to find all six fuse holders inside filled with live .22 long rifle rounds.

@@ScottGrammer Seems like there are memorable stories from any line of work. In my case, I was a computer repair technician in the late 70's early 80's. One call that stands out: I was called out to the HQ of a mostly local drug store chain to work on a word processor. It wouldn't boot off the 8" floppy drive system diskettes used at the time. I tried one of my own copies and it booted fine. Figuring her disk just went bad for some reason, I made her a new system diskette and left. Next morning, another call comes in, same problem, won't boot. I try my diskette and again it boots fine. I run all the diagnostics on the machine, and they all pass with flying colors. Made another system diskette for her and left. Next morning still another call comes in, same problem, and now they're hopping mad, get managers involved and all, and wan't me back out there pronto! So I get out there again and again same thing, my disk boots, but hers doesn't. So I say, ok, make her a new disk again, and ask her to power it down, and bring it up from scratch, hoping to see something. To my utter shock, she takes the system diskette out, and plasters it to an adjacent metal filing cabinet with a magnet! I say Noooo-no-no!, this is MAGNETIC media, and that magnet is destroying it every time. Made still another system disk for her, had her bring it up from scratch again, made sure it worked for her, and finally, suggesting keeping the system disk in a folder inside the cabinet with her data diskettes, situation fixed, no more problems.
