@@jwnagy There were three GREAT features: pop culture (music, movies...) finally reaching adulthood from 1967 on, The Moon Landing, Woodstock. Otherwise, pure horror, yes.
There is a story that when Dusty was in her final days under medical care and the young nurses didn't know anything about her or her background, one of her friends brought in VHS tapes of these performances and played them. The nurses were amazed, and Dusty herself got to enjoy some final recognition. RIP.
Dusty was an Icon. Beautiful, elegant and sang in tune without all these aids and "Gimmicks" that are used by the majority of the singers of today who couldn`t "hold a tune to save their lives......and EVERY word was sung with a clarity that most of the singers of today will never be able to match.
Taken to early at 59. In accordance with Dusty's wishes, she was cremated and some of her ashes were buried at Henley, while the rest were scattered by her brother, Tom Springfield, at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.
I have been obsessed with this video ever since I recently discovered it. Aside from her great singing voice and song, there is something mesmerizing about her affect, body language, facial expressions, and just the way she moves, that strikes me as just so joyful, sweet, sincere, wholesome and appealing, that is both endearing and touching to me for reasons I don't quite understand. ❤But, I'm sure that being a child of the 60s-70s has something to do with it. 😄In any case, this has become one of my most favorite YT videos. 🥰
@@mearls242 Lol...Yep! My other favorites are the the little head bobble she does, and when she spreads her arms and flexes her wrists every time the trumpets play "Duh duhduh!", right before "I only wanna be with youuuuuuuu!". 🤣It cracks me up that I love this video as much as I do! 😍It's also nice to see that someone else gets it too!...So Thank you! 😊
Heavily influenced by girl groups of the era such as the Exciters and the Shirelles, and with lavish Phil Spector-style production, “I Only Want to Be With You” became the first ever song on Top of the Pops when Dusty performed it on New Year’s Day 1964.
When I first saw my Nanette, she captivated me from the very first moment. Her beautiful eyes....her sweet smile had me hooked. We messaged back and forth for a short period of time before exchanging phone numbers. Our first phone call lasted 11-1/2 hrs! I _knew_ she was the one I was meant to be with. I was _in love_ . Over time and 100's and 100's of conversations the feeling of being _in_ love grew to _loving_ . 2-1/2 yrs later we became engaged, and almost 2 yrs later we married. _I only want to be with HER_ 🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

One of my best 10 British women singers of the 60's, this song has passed my 5 points to be a hit for the rest of my living days. 1.- lyrics, 2.- voice. 3.- rhythm, 4.- music, 5.- Performance. (NO NECESSARILY IN THIS ORDER).
Hard to find a pure voice like that, these days. Several country singers have hits inspired by this song. Reba Mcintire - WRONG NIGHT. Patti Lovelace - I Try to Think About Elvis.
If you climb that ladder high that you’ve leaned to peer over the garden walls of sound and see what the HELL is that amazing thing you’re hearing from without you’ll find Dusty singing this song. Dusty’s contemporary, en vogue, dinky dance steps don’t even begin to contain the powerhouse of her vocals in this. She should instead be grabbing that mic, leaning into it and let it supernova her belts to blast the eyelashes off those listening. Goddam nothing as convincing, as heartfelt and COMMITTED as Dusty’s confessions in this recording. OK, Dusty! My pleasure. Whatever. You. Want.
This is just wonderful and thankyou s much.Isn't it amazing how attractive in dress 'Dusty' presents herself.A true proffesional. Why do we have to see people trying to look like they have fallen out of a rubbish truck.I am now 59yrs old and missed being older when Dusty was around.Excellent musicians backing with beautifully arranged orchestratation. It is a little magic . Isn't the world sad enough at times without entertainers looking and sounding like 'bums' and screamers. Sorry but why can't we have some 'professional entertainers like this .(entertaining)).
What's so sad is that Dusty never considered herself 'beautiful' despite all her fans thinking so. She (quoted in articles) thought her face looked 'manly', mostly because of her strong jawline and long face, which 'may' have been considered manly at the time, but I and most other humans on the planet found her to be beautiful! She hated her own looks, which was very sad. Too bad that some of the most talented people are also the most insecure.
Love. Judy Garland, Dusty Springfield--why can't the world be like these amazing ladies today. Absolute talent and charisma. We will never see this again, sadly.
She was very good, but a little before her, the best I've ever heard was Connie Francis. That woman sang so effortlessly. If her career didn't get cut short by her father's overpowering control as well as some tragic events that happened to her... She would have surpassed Elvis for being the Female Version of him based on vocal talents alone! Dusty was great and not only is this song good, but her other song, You Don't Have to Say You Love Met that showcases her angelic voice as well as a few other songs, yet I would still state that she could not hold a candle to Connie Francis.
This song always sounded timelessly great no matter who recorded it in what era - Dusty Springfield in the '60s, the Bay City Rollers and the Tourists in the '70s, Samantha Fox in the '80s. All of them packed it with punch. Thanks for posting the original!
I was born in 63,so I only became aware of the lady a few years after the song was released. I think that she was one of the greatest talents show up in the 60s, and one of the easiest on the eyes. Wow.
Dusty springfield was 100% pure perfection. She had it all. Immensely beautiful, immensely sexy in a very decent way, rich with rhythm and a voice that was out of this world. Dusty Springfield was and still is the pride of Great Britain and the world. Rest in peace my beloved Dusty. Respectfully: Henry Pope
