I love all your gear especially the pack. Just too expensive lol. Seems like all your gear is pretty pricey. Will you ever do some budget friendly gear?
For sure. I've tried to do that with some of the military surplus I integrate into content. I'm just field testing some of this higher end gear for the brands.
Never understood why the Dutch Forces were issued this item. They already had Poncho and liners. Its more of a Survival item, they are very good though. Maybe try it in the Fall without a tarp? Would be interesting to know how much you paid for it as here in the Netherlands the going rate is around 100 euros.
Yeah I don't know much about the history behind it but it is for sure a quality piece of gear. I'll for sure be using it this fall and winter because I'm out pretty much everyday once cold weather hits. and i have link to where I got it in the description you could see the conversion rate there
Id say those parts you used to hold the mat are actually intended to be used on a cot, typically they intend for the air mattress to be inside the bivy vs outside of it. Of course, it can be used however you want lol but I'd say that was the thought.
That's funny; every bushcrafter I've seen use this particular bag over the years has stated that they are to hold the sleeping mat in place and many of them have military experience. So I think. I will defer to their knowledge on the subject. Being able to attach it to a cot would be a secondary benefit. This is military surplus meant to give a soldier a dry place for him and his gear. Have you ever heard of a soldier carrying a cot into the field? No ; you haven't.
This tent isn’t thought trough, it has a bug net, and yet theres a hole 1-2 fingers wide where the zippers meet, which makes the bug net useless. You might be ok mosquito wise, but nothing will protect you from ticks, spiders and other crawling insects
I'm going to be taking this out again very soon. I heavily treated mine with permethrin so that does a fantastic job at keeping ticks and other bugs off the bivy. I didn't notice such a large opening but I'll pay more attention this time. If anything I'll throw a piece of tape over it.
Thats an idea, ill try this as well, i wish i could share a photo of it so we can compare, maybe yours hasn’t got one. Mine isnt the carinthia one, so maybe it could be because of that. Anyways, thank you for responding to my comment bro, love your videos, definitely looking forward to more of them, especially with this bivy.
Both are solid and I've used the marine bivy a lot more. But I think the Dutch bivy would be the way to go. That single pole holding the material off youre head works wayyyy better than the wire in he usmc bivy
