The tomatoes, Lebanese Cucumbers and lettuce are all growing reasonably well in out Dutch Buckets syatem, even though the seeds were collected last year (La Nina conditions) so the seeds were of lesser quality.
This year (El Nino conditions) I expect better growing conditions.
I will not be collecting seeds from our crop this year as the plants are La Nina grown.
That having being said, I have sourced some tomato seeds from Western Australia that I am test growing in the system, and so far they are doing better than the locally sourced seeds.
I will also be collecting seeds from interstate tomato produce sold in our local green grocer's shop.
These tomatoes are more like our El Nino crops, larger and more more plentiful fruits.
This is the first year we have picked tomatoes from the system before Xmas day.
Usually the crop starts mid January.
