Wien Neêrlands Bloed (Those in whom Dutch blood) was the national anthem of the Netherlands between 1815 and 1932. Thus version was used between 1815 and 1898, when the Netherlands had kings, as it was modified upon Queen Wilhelmina’s accession to the throne. The lyrics were written by Dutch poet Hendrik Tollens and was set to music by Johann Wilhelm Wilms.

i think House of Orange-Nassau have no problem or controvercy at all,because of that they still popular with dutch people.i think who we should concern is british monarch,because crown prince charles is unpopular within uk and the commonwealth rather to his mother queen elizabeth II.there's a possibility to commonwealth want to abandon the monarch

@@Primigenia well the dutch family is considered the most scandalous royal family for they were subjects of multiple controversies. Like the King's late father, Claus, being a former member of the SS. Or Kings sister-in-law having connections with a big druglord. Or as the father of Queen Maxima being part of the controversial moment in Argentina known as the Dirty War.

@@cgt3704 but i think as non-dutch people, they are still stable and popular monarch and have no problem regarding succession org the newest controvercies that making shock entire country unlike british monarch.and thanks for that information i think i need more research again

I wish they retained this anthem, much more patriotic and based. The "Wilhelmus" has a nice tune but the text itself doesn't really inspire personal devotion to the nation like this one does. especially in the stanzas not included in this video where it asks God to "Protect, O God! Safeguard the ground, on which we draw our breath. The place where once our cradle stood, and we shall suffer death." (not an exact translation but i'm trying to convey the beauty of those lines to our non-dutch speaking anthem-enjoyers)

I don't agree. I feel more for the Wilhelmus. But I feel more for the anthem of Twente then the Wilhelmus. And I feel more for Die Stem van South Africa then the Wilhelmus.

@@theon9575 it isn't even racist. If you have dutch blood and don't serve other foreign powers (like the French) is what they mean... And besides even the edited version is still called problematic for the emphasis of not having allegiance to other nations. Some people can't be pleased....

@@theon9575 This is the king version, used between 1815 and 1898. The second line was only changed upon the accession of Queen Wilhelmina in 1898, I have a video of that version too

@@lucasviniciusteixeira121 in the 17th and 18th century the Flag was Orange White Blue called the Prince Flag when William the 1st was crowned king it went to red white blue and became our National Flag The orange banier was because of the House of Orange, and that is why dutch always wear orange in sport matches etc...
