I like to think that at the end, Dutch remembered everything Arthur said and finally realized that he was always telling him exactly what he didn’t want to hear….the truth.
am i the only one who doesn't give a damn about these unoriginal cliched criminal characters from rockstar? they're getting gold and tedious. they should make a gta or red dead game where you play as a cop
Dutches death was always so unsettling after playing the second game and realizing he had said that line before, iv always wondered what he was thinking in those final moments
I desparetly want RDR 3 based in Dutch, not only it will give us the opportunity to play and learn about him, but also deepen the character development.
If we consider the fact that Dutch’s “plan” for RDR2 was to jump off the cliff and into the water with Arthur then there is a good chance that’s what he was thinking about when he uttered the same lines in RDR1 before falling to his death. He was at that point realizing that all his plans meant nothing and that he had chosen to lose everything and everybody he once cared about in pursuit of this meaningless dream.
Rockstar somehow made an already meaningful speech from the "main" villain much more heartbreaking and revealing. I absolutely love Red Dead Redemption's story so much.
The way Dutch says, "They will find another monster because they have to...." makes him kind of a prophet. *Significant Spoilers follow* John ultimately dies in RDR 1 as the legacy of the monster passed on to him; anyone off authority in the Van Der Linde Gang had the most dramatic deaths. Hosea was killed in front of the gang's eyes (Right Hand Man). Arthur was killed due TB on a cliff (High Honor) or by Micah (Low Honor). Micah was killed in a trio duel (truel) between Dutch, Micah and John. Dutch was killed, well as we saw in the video. And John died.... by being riddled with bullet holes by the entire law of the county. All these people mentioned were technically 'monsters' in the eyes if the law, and each one had their own dramatic way of death. Arthur dies most peacefully in High Honor, as atleast his body doesn't get desecrated by bullet holes, or get his neck/spine snapped.
It’s kinda clear all the way through. Dutch is wrong, you see, Dutch was a bad man with a somewhat noble albeit at this point faded goal, Arthur was a man on the path to redemption, and John was a redeemed man. The fact is, all these men were already monsters, just each a lesser monster of the one before them, until eventually under the smallest reason, with Jack. A man who has never committed a sin to be considered a monster, being threatened to die like a dog when just going to get some answers and a explanation for why he killed his father, and a apology, failing that, some justice. A man who has committed no sins would have been labeled a monster and probably was after killing him, but by the fact that man has gone so low he makes monsters out of good men perhaps it explains why it switches and it seems that instead he, is the monster now, that now we have just found another monster and all the same with the leader of the pinkertons a good man we label as a monster, and we label Leviticus Cornwall a monster too, and Angelo bronte, then micah a gang member with us that may not even have snitched (probably did though). Idk, shits thought invoking
Exactly what I love about these games, the game is called Red Dead redemption for a reason, it's sad to say but maybe every protagonist of this franchise may have to die trying to redeem themselves in their last moments, wondering if they took a different path maybe things would've been different maybe I wouldn't have to die like this.
So that’s why he used that technique. It was his old skill expect that in rdr1 he just wanted to give up anyways there was no water. Rip and wished things could have altered in that he would have been what people before he betrayed thought he was gonna be.
Ain’t gonna lie I’m not like most people where I hated Dutch. Yea he turned into a bad man and didn’t care but like he’s not so bad to me. Yea I don’t like Dutch for his actions and how it turned up but Micah is more of a hate-able character.
He wasn't so bad in the beginning but once he started saying "1 more score" every time is when I realized he wasn't doing things in the gangs best interest anymore
@@RealRabbit664 true and I hated the fact He didn’t listen to Arthur or John his close sons / friends / brothers but instead trusted a rat named Micah. I think he turned crazy also was when he hurt his head. He only trusted Micah because He acted like he was dutches best friend and agreed with him while also getting in his head. And yes Dutch In the first 3 chapters was so cool and when the end of chapter 4 - 6 he turned crazy
@@Bizzy3663 Dutch started slipping before the game even started... like when he killed that innocent girl Heidi McCourt in Blackwater. He started losing his sanity even more as the chapters progressed. Hosea dying was like Dutch's moral compass dying as well. It wasn't that Dutch trusted or loved Micah more than Arthur, but Micah fed Dutch's ego, and was that devil on his shoulder who justified his "plans" that never came to fruition.
i gotta say i do sympathise with dutch, at least to an extent. of course i don’t support his actions especially when it comes to the stuff with eagle flies or abandoning arthur and john, but i feel like he was trying to save his own skin by any means necessary, even if it meant breaking a few eggs. i feel like he deluded himself into thinking what he was doing what was right, especially after hosea died and he didn’t have anyone to reign in his outlandish ideas but also idk i could be reading him completely incorrectly lmao
@@dreamseeker3721 Evelyn Miller? He's certainly obsessed enough. Edit --> it's straight up a miller quote, he talks about fighting his own nature at one point apparently in RDR2
@@dreamseeker3721 The Evelyn Miller dude in RDR2, he specifically speaks in length about his nature all the time... and he even goes as far as to say he can't fight his own nature I think even multiple times. You meet him in the epilogue.
I don’t think so, I think It was more that you can’t right your wrongs, and John had a a lot of wrongs. take yourself out of the protagonists eyes, at the end of the day, they were a gang, who robbed and killed. Yes Ross was an asshole for betraying his word to John, but ultimately Ross’s overall mission was to rid the states of outlaws. Also, Ross can just take credit for taking down the Van der Linde gang.
@Deathless Phantom No. Nate Johns was running for governor in West Elizabeth and one of his campaign promises was cleaning up the rampant crime in the region. Keep in mind that he was a highly corrupt politician who had no qualms about achieving his goals in less-than-honest ways. Ross was just one of his crownies and he was tasked to take out John Marston, the last of the infamous Van der Linde gang. Killing all the outlaws would have been great publicity for Nate. Of course, the above explanation is just a theory, but it's the most likely one.
@@Flex-cx7uj The law is not the only reason for John’s death. If John did not go after Micah, he would not have given Ross a clue about where he lived and would have lived a peaceful life with his family. In other words John also had fault for his own death because he couldn’t resist getting revenge on Micah. John should have followed what Arthur did which is rather than seeking revenge on Dutch and Micah he was focused on trying to save the people he loved and cared for especially John and his family. Now, Jack repeated the same mistake his father made.
In RDR 1 jack’s ending That’s the thing you can kill Edgar‘s wife and brother but the game doesn’t force you to. It should have especially if rockstar never has any plans to ever do Jack’s story. And regardless after a while somebody’s gonna notice that that family is missing. I’m sure that they have friends and what not elsewhere. Eventually somebody will probably find out that they died or missing and that’ll get back to Blackwater, and that one agent that Jack first asked will give a statement saying he remembers speaking to a “young guy late teens early 20s” who is looking for him… considering what happened to John is not ancient history to the blackwater police and considering Jack would have a high motive to go after Edgar they’ll likely pin all those deaths on him. So even if the agent alone is left alive by rockstar there’s still a sizable enough loose end to make a story out of that. If they ever remake red dead redemption and they are definitively sure they don’t want Jack to have a story, he either needs to just not go after Edgar at all and move on. “Or they need to kill off all three witnesses immediately that’s part of the mission not a choice” As it stands now technically John’s own game isn’t even an necessity if we pretend rdr 1 never existed. And only focus on rdr2 and how that ended, literally zero need for a sequel for John he avenged The gang killed Micah, and kind of made peace with Dutch, got rich, got a ranch, and his whole family is alive and the last “good” gang members have a happy ending too. they could’ve just left the whole story at that. and the surviving bad gang members had really no interest in going after John so he was pretty safe. So those federal agents that just happened to find John somehow after all these years seams a little far-fetched and kind of forced. Many ppl would feel hesitant if not completely against John having new story, similar to how many now feel with Jack but he arguably deserves one more more so when comparing John’s ending Who pretty much got everything he wanted. (Again we’re pretending that rdr1 ever existed and I love that. Jacks ending, literally involves him asking a federal agent, Edgar‘s wife and Edgar‘s brother about where to find Edgar himself. And canonically speaking let’s all three of them live and only kills Edgar… The brother most likely is the one who finds the body or at least reports him missing, that gets back to blackwater and then the agent gives the statement describing a young man looking for Jack. Then the police will ask themselves “what kind of young man would have an issue with a retired federal agent like edger so much so to track him down and kill him”. They will also get statements from the brother and the wife no also match the same description the agent had about jack. Then considering what happened to John at breachers hope is not ancient history to the blackwater police. they’ll will be looking at Jack very closely on this and certainly blame him for it, he does have biggest motive to wanna kill him, no alibi to suggest otherwise, and most likely will not be at home and not return home realistically after killing someone like Edgar so.…. Rdr3 “ Red dead revelations” And yes I know there is a book in GTA that has Jack’s name on it. But that *only* proves he published 1 book. he technically could’ve done that in the few years following John’s death before even going after Edgar in 1914 for all we know. He could’ve died an outlaw, died in World War I, we have no idea truly how that kid turn out and considering we watched him grow up, leaving his adult life a mystery I just feel is subpar to really treat him with such low regard as a character.
You should literally already own it in your clothes section I think it's called the grizzlies bounty hunter outfit but literally everyone iv seen who owns the game already owns that outfit
