@@makkapakka2098 Aussies took over from Dutch Marines on a rotation in Iraq. The Dutch had conducted aggressive patrolling and had successfully undertaken a hearts and minds op which led them to dominating the sector, seriously depleting the insurgent's influence. The Australians are good soldiers, but under the poor leadership of a wanker called Nikolic, they were forced into a safety first, absolutely no friendly casualties approach, driven by political expediency rather than military objectives. This approach ceded power back to the insurgents, to the extent that the terrorists had resumed business as usual by the time the Australians up and left. This was a stain on the ADF who up till that point had served with great distinction. The Dutch Marines were widely admired and respected by the Australians, who normally considered most European continental forces (a lot of them conscript based) to be vastly inferior in training, capability and fighting spirit compared to the various forces of the Anglosphere. The Dutch Marines are top notch make no mistake.

@Fuhrerjehova
@Fuhrerjehova 4 года назад
Why wouldn't they? Sure, they outnumbered the boarding party and could have tried to bring down the helicopter, but what would that have accomplished? Dead marines? Maybe, but after regrouping western forces would strike back with fury and not a single one of those pirates would have left that ship alive. Why do that when you can get a nice prison cell in Germany and an asylum when you are freed after a few years?

I wanted the ending of these pirates to be the same as the pirates of the Batavia mutiny. When the dutch commander returned from Indonesia with help and supplies he found some of the crew had mutinied and committed rape and murder. He had his men use chisels to cut their hands off at the wrist " so their blood could flow as freely as that of their victims " and then hanged them as they bled to death. Got to love those Dutchies!

I feel bad for a lot of somali pirates. Dont get me wrong, if you hijack a freighter, you should see the inside of a prison cell for a long time, or if you choose to harm civilains or resist capture, be prepared to get shot. But the circumstances in Somalia are pretty fucked up. The large fishing trawlers of big companies, that roam the somali territorial waters destroyed the livelyhood of many somalis. Often times they are deperate to make ends meet and feed themselves and their families in a war ridden country that is far from beeing stable and prosperous. Everything has a cause and effect in this world! That said, great video and much respect to the Dutch Marines. I love your way of narrating these videos. Keep up the great work!!!

I’m not defending them, but if you had nothing, no money, food, no job market, youd get creative in how to survive as well. If you wanna end piracy than support charities or organizations, or even foreign aid $ to help them set up infrastructure so they can survive a legal way. Killing people almost always makes the situation worse. Plus they would be dead, they won’t know they’re dead, so not much of a punishment. It only punishes those who loved them.

@@konata736 War crimes may only be committed during an armed conflict, whereas crimes against humanity can be committed both in times of war and of peace. ... A crime against humanity must be committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack upon a civilian population; there is no such requirement for a war crime. War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity - Oxford ScholarshipThis article seems to explain it best. www.wsj.com/articles/SB122757123487054681 So technically not a war crime, and there are many, somewhat conflicting reasons (most countries have some rule or go by the UN one against it, which the US didn't sign on to) as to why people have agreed not to hang them. Anyway, security forces certainly have the right to use overwhelming force. And a civilian could certainly be justified in doing so (not the hanging part, but justified homicide). Now as for the ethics part of it. When one human takes up arms against another, for the sole purpose of depriving them of liberty, possessions or life, the victim of the act doesn't need to consider the reason for the act, as the perpetrator, even if they are being coerced in someway, has at least made a decision to value their own lives, or someone else life over the victims. At which point any extenuating circumstances go out the window. And finally, if one does decide to take matters into their own hands, if they do so in international waters, it is highly dubious that they would face any charges. scholar.smu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=3534&context=jalc The laws of the ocean are murky waters. The fast rope jump from the helicopter was dropped, so the helicopter could go to the other side of the ship as soon as possible. I think the marines used this rope to climb down from the containers, but this isn't confirmed anywhere. Or maybe they used a ladder that they brought.

Guys, let me tell you something: German ships do not deserve to get rescued by foreign forces. These pirates, who have been sent to court in Germany have been sent to prison. After they left the prison they were NOT sent back to their homecountries, no, they are still in Germany and receiving full social wellfare. Don't free German ships. Let them do the job.

I'm tearing the fuck up. It's too surreal to see such heroes in action like this.

Not sure if you take video requests but if you do, could you make a video about the Swedish SSG during the Congo Conflict of 2003 and/or the conflict in Chad in 2007?

In October 2012 (why it took 2 years who knows) the pirates were given "up to" 7 years. I would luv to know if they are still in Germany. I mean for god sake u get more time bumpin off a liquor store. The youngest three were released an presumably returned to Somalia.
