This video will be on one of the first mass adopted fixed blad stiletto combat knives in the world the Dutch stürmdolk. Stürmdolk means storm dirk in English or basically assault knife. This knife was developed in response of wwi when the Dutch who were neutral observers of wwi saw the need for a close assault type weapon based off of the clubs and knives both sides were using on the western front. These knives would not see use in wwi but would in wwii mostly against the Japanese by the Dutch in the Dutch East Indies (modern day Indonesia). They would also see limited use against the Germans during the capture and occupation of the Netherlands. Hopefully you liked this video and subscribed if you like this sort of stuff. Please leave a comment with any questions, additional information, user experiences, or suggestions for future videos. As always thanks for watching.

Mikov makes a good double-edged pig sticker too, they even come sharp. They also make some of the snappiest auto knives.

You have to consider weather conditions as well , as the Dutch weather can be verry volitile . temperatures and what ever comes from out of the sky . Clothing layers are much preffered . as such knifes and equipment needed to be capable to be used easy. Even in a 17 degree celcius day with a bit of wind and light rain your fingers will numb . Punching through several layers of clothing . and insulation well that takes a good knife to get through .

These knives were made in 1917/1918 by Hembrug Factories in Zaandam (just north of Amsterdam). The area is still there. The stamped CW on the sheath under the hilt indicates: ‘Centrale Werkplaats’ (central workplace). The knife is marked with a small crown above a ‘Z’ on hilt, blade and handle. This is the mark of the inspector (his name is well known inspector Zwiersma; there are some other letters beneath the crown indicating other inspectors. Crown B is E.B. Brossois, crown H is J.C. Harnas). The knife was blued and of high quality steel (former train track steel). The hilt is walnut. Real Dutch heritage. Yours faithfully, a former Dutch stormtrooper:-). Btw yours is a replica, around €85. The original in good condition and identical serial numbers on knife and sheath are around €685,- now.

MY fathers brother served in Europe late in WWiI and we found a Stormdork with sheath in his things after he passed. I did a bit of research to find out what it was but i cant guess where he traded for it. After VE day he was sent on a ship to the pacific and did end the war in the Philippines and was there for several months.

This would also be good if you run into trouble with wild animals Such as bears Or if you get jumped by a cougar (Just in case)

I have seen an original. The handle is darker with matching stamps B series 300 numbers on the hilt and scabbard. What's odd is there is Waffen SS bolts that are hand carved/poorly widdled onto the pommel. I know that alot of the dutch made up the Waffen guard. This knife was also used by alot of ww2 german officers. Was this a common thing they did or was some Yahoo fooling around trying to flash up an antique with the bolt carving? The carving is filled lazily with a silver paint. It's so lazy I can see someone doing it in a field. I can also see some yahoo adding it on there for role playing flair. Has anyone heard or seen something similar?

Assault-Dirk Not storm dirk. And they’re only stilettos if you’re Italian.
